Does anyone think that we should have moved on from Brees 2 years before he retired? The dropping off on arm strength, injuries, lack of weapons......

His accuracy was always top notch, but 10-15 yard passes had us struggling to push the ball downfield and/or put the ball in the end zone.

The season of the atrocious missed call should have probably been his last. Ugly way to go out, but likely best for everyone involved.

That no-call still makes me sick, b/c I KNOW we had the SB that year. We were too good and explosive.

I think that the best team we EVER had was when we lost to SF in the divisional round in SF. 2011

Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, Jimmy Graham, Darren Sproles, Marques Colston, Robert Meachem, Lance Moore, Chris Ivory.....we were STACKED.

Defense saw Cam Jordan, Malcolm Jenkins, Roman Harper, JoLonn Dunbar, Tracy Porter, Jabari Greer, Sedrick Ellis, Junior Galette, Scott Shanle, Jonathan Vilma, P. Robinson.....man I miss that squad.

I could see him trying to run it back in 2019. But he had no business in 2020. His arm was shot and he was severely injury prone. Everytime he would throw in 2020 my butthole would clench it was that bad.

Brees should’ve retired after the 2018 season.

He would be loved and respected by everyone if he had.

As soon as Brady said he would come here, we should have moved on.

When I saw the Favre / Rodgers situation unfolding, I was thinking that it would be a grand end to a career to have one quarterback mold another, and fill on as needed. I know that their competitive spirits don't think in that way, but Brees sure could have been a wonderful mentor to a younger player, filled in on occasion splendidly, and put a unique cap to a Hall of Fame career. Oh, and continue to stay healthier and pad the stats. Guess that's not how it works.

This thread is disrespectful to the greatest player in saints history and possibly a top 5-10 QB of all time. The dude literally took us from losers to Super Bowl champs. Without Drew this team might have moved. Some people must not remember the saints pre Drew Brees... I’m glad he stayed as long as he did even if he did lose a lot of arm strength in last few years. He gave what he had to Louisiana and that’s all you can ask for.

This is what we’re calling disrespect now?!?! Are you fricking kidding me?

The OP asked a fair question! By all accords, he should have walked away. Def by 19 at the latest like another poster stated.

I think we can all say that we’re forever thankful for what he’s done to this organization. However, when he went public and apologized for something most thought he shouldn’t have recanted, I was left looking at him just a little differently.

This is a prime example of people being to soft for their own good. If that’s disrespect to you….I suggest you grow yourself a pair. I never thought I’d see the day that you had to watch what you said cause no matter what you say today, someone’s gonna be butt hurt cause of it

Mickey didn't follow his own advice.

"It's better to lose them a year to early rather than a year to late.

So here we are. But everyone know this time was coming.

So many idiots on this board. The dude got 2nd in MVP voting, leading league in QBR. You think a guy still in the top 3 at the most important position just hangs it up?
