Freeman never was a lock to make the roster, but can we at least give both of these guys longer than the 1st 2 quarters of the 1st preseason game before sizing Jones for a gold jacket, and giving Freeman a boot in the arse out the door?

I mean, a few plays in the Hall of Game in 2007 was all we needed to see that Pierre Thomas was legit.

Devonta looks old and slow. Tony Jones looks fast and fresh.

Honestly never expected him to make the team. Thought he was done last year but it is pretty evident here early on.

If camp and this game is any indication, Freeman and Jones make the team and Murray gets traded.

How is he in pass protection. Little things can keep him around

Freeman just doesn’t bring anything to the table that someone else doesn’t already do

He's been pretty bad the last couple years. Keeping him as a 3rd back would be a bad decision even if Jones wasn't showing out.

freeman is done. there are probably going to be 10-20 rbs cut from other teams better than him.

So weird considering that not that long ago (2017) he was arguably a top 5 RB in the league

sadly, RBs typically fall off a cliff in production fast.

They really do. Seems like their window is 3, maybe 5 years max

Tony Jones was terrific in pass protection tonight. Had that one fumble but freeman had one too

I remember there being some controversy about whether the Saints would cut (I think Pittman?) and keep Thomas given that Pittman was a 4th round pick and Thomas was an UDFA. In this regard I feel like the Saints have come a long way and trust what they see the players do at camp. First and second round guys aren’t getting cut year 1 but after that I think the Saints give zero weight to where the rookie was selected.
