He wants a long term deal with large guarantee money. Cant blame him
He's 36 years old. He's looking for the best 1 year deal he can get.
So is Cam.

he's a good player on a good contract
Let’s not overthink this then
Cam is playing half the defensive snaps, 60/40 split pass to run snaps. Soon to be 37 years old. I don’t mind keeping him but he certainly isn’t going to strong arm me into a crazy contract.
Granderson has been a workhorse who plays the pass and run just as well. Not the sexiest player but it’s hard to find guys competent in both areas. Contract is nice. Keeping him and Young and adding a younger piece seems like the move.

maybe jets could send us some draft capital for carl since they loaded and aaron glenn was here 2 yrs with carl.
I wouldn't mind it...we need a first round edge at some point (and the draft capital to get it) because if Chase plays like he did this season again (and continues the upward trajectory / plays the whole season), he is going to get at least $30 million after 2027

He deserves to be on a contender to close out his career

ehhh he's also said he ain't playing on no more discounted contract anymore. Seems to be some ill feelings about how his contract has played out and what chase and granderson are getting paid.
He had two and four sacks the prior two years. I’d say he was vastly overpaid those two years. Guess he forgot about that. He will be 37. He’s not getting any big bag. Those days are gone.

15-17 was my thought process of what cam could be wanting.
No one is paying that much to a de that is 37 years old lol. I’m thinking half of that for one year is reasonable.

Everytime I listen to her you can tell how much of a huge Saints fan she is.
On Demario, I think this is more leverage talk than wanting to leave talk, but if someone offers a good bit more than us I think he would take it. If we are close then I think he stays. He can say all these "need a vet", "missing a piece", etc. things, but if anyone thinks he wants to leave then he is obviously pushing the right buttons to make you believe that.

The average salary for Demario is supposed to be around $10 million so I wouldn’t think they’d have any problem ponying up for him.
It helps us that the LB market is more like the RB market in that way

I mean I'm fine either way it plays out, because I know we won't overpay and we can go get a younger guy in FA or the draft (plus we have Werner and Stutsman as well and you only play 2 LBs most of the time).
If we keep him, it helps the cap this year and he is still playing at a high level, but it hurts the cap in future years. If we let him walk, we can still create a ton of space in other ways so we do not NEED to extend him and/or Cam, and we start with a cleaner slate in 2027 (like a very clean slate).
My preference is to try to keep both him and Cam, but if they walk they obviously were asking for more than they are worth (on the field; off the field they are worth so much more).

I'd give cam the same contract he had past yr.
If you watched him, a lot of his sacks were clean up sacks.
Granderson has been great but looked a little different in staley's defense to me. Not as comfortable.
I'd re-sign Demario over cam all day.

Some in the business call those effort/no quit plays.

Thought the same. Something looked or seemed off.

It’s easy to say get rid of him, meaning Davis or Cam,but look back what happened a few years ago when the Saints got rid of their leaders. That Defense was horrible ,nobody was held accountable.

Jordan and Davis should go to a playoff team next year. They only have 1 season left. Payton cut players in this same situation. Both players will not be here next time Saints are in post season.
