re: Cooks is NOT a Running Back

Our WRs were below average last year, so another sticking point is we desperately need him to fill WR shoes. I think he might catch more balls than Stills

Harvin was a RB coming out of college, though. He ran the ball a lot at Florida
I'm comparing Cooks to Harvin's pro career. I do not think we will use him in the backfield the way Minn did with PH, but I do believe we will line him up as you state here:

Im sure we will work him in to some gimmicky "run" plays.. reverses, that end around play, etc.

if he adjusts very well to the NFL learning curve, i'd really be mildly surprised if he wasn't 2 in catches on our roster behind Jimmy.

Sproles was barely a RB last year.
Well he spent 40% of the plays split out wide or in the slot
The other 60%?

I don't think any single player will fill the Sproles role per se. If you watch Cooks highlights tho, you will see he did take a lot of handoffs from close rather than what we generally think of as an end around.
His 2013 OSU running numbers might be a guide:
32 attempts
217 yards
6.8avg
2 TDs
I haven't been in on the "is he more like Cobb or DeSean?" debate but do think we might see something more like Jackson's first 3 years in Philly than Cobb's 16 attempts in his first three years.
DeSean Jackson Rushing first 3 years-
43 attempts
337 yards
7.8 avg
3 TDs
I would be excited to see Cooks have 15-25 carries. This is still in no wise near the 63 carries Sproles had. I don't like boxing any player into a description or role- especially when Sean Payton is designing the plays! Let Brandin Cooks be Brandin Cooks. In three years I want other teams to be looking for or describing prospects as "Cooks-like" the way Jimmy Graham is now thought of now.
On side note, I'm glad the SEC has not succumbed to the gawd awful arena football unis of the Pac 12

I'm with you on this. I compare him to Harvin only because it fits more accurately than the annoying chromosome lacking Sproles comparisons.

Only had one meet up so far, and my second meet up will be Thursday. I believe it will help a great deal. Just being able to get a lot of things off my chest and vent helps, especially because I don't like to tell friends/family about my problems. But having someone who can give tips and remedies on how to treat bad anxiety, which is my issue and what has snowballed on me, is great. Hell, just having someone to make me look at things from a different perspective is awesome.
I was told by a doctor to get on Zoloft, and started to take it. This was before I had even spoken to a therapist, and the medicine made me feel really weird; hot all the time and plenty of dizziness. I also don't like the potential side effects of these kind of medications and made the decision to stop it. I've seen first hand what anti-depressants can do to people. I honestly believe I just need a therapist to help get my life back on track, from there it's just a mental thing. It's a slump, and I will get out of it.
And Hoodoo, my sister is in this field as well. She seems to enjoy it. There's plenty of stress, but if you enjoy helping people and giving advice, you'll excel with it. You'll deal with all sorts of people; some will be like me and understand what's going on, and they'll be easier to help. Then there will be some difficult people that'll be tough to deal with. My sister has her fair share of both.
Sorry for derailing this thread, guys.

15-25 carries seems about right to me. Payton will know when to utilize the guy, and he won't be predictable.

another on Cooks... in the draft process I heard him described at least 3-4 times by different analysts as a supercharged Tavon Austin. Not gonna get into the comparison but just that most spoke of him in higher regard than Austin. I dig on that for the valuation aspect. Our #20 is already estimated as higher quality than last year's #8 pick!
Another purer draft discussion, but those are the sort of examples to understand the fluidity of player ratings. Same thing in that many said both of last year's #1 & 2 picks (OT Fisher & Joeckel) could have easily been picked after Matthews #6 or even Lewan #11 this year.
THAT kinda valuation on Cooks is why you make the trade to get him if you can.

That's all good to hear.
Yeah, doctors are more likely to give pills, since that's their training.
But psychotherapy can produce the same results, with more lasting effects without the side-effects.
For anxiety, try asking your therapist about mindfulness.
It's one of my favorite skills, and your therapist might be well-versed in it.

I think he is. Hes had it since high school

One name that continues to build momentum and ascend on NFL draft boards is Oregon State wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Funny thing is, Supercharged Brandin Cooks went at 20 and Tavon Austin went at 8. Although cooks combine #s are better as well. Guess that's how deep they consider this WR class.

To be honest, I have to agree....Cooks is not a RB. To be honest though, I think people just generally place him in Sproles category because of the skill set the possess. To be honest, wherever SP decides to use him, he's going to be special.
