I'm guessing everyone up in here is blaming Loomis?

I mean, I am sure every single team called him. But he is going to get the same amount of money no matter where he goes, so at this point it is just what is the best situation.

But to sit a year and possibly start next year on one of the best offensive lines? Even if he was a bust, no one would be able to tell since he will be on that line. Collins gonna get paid after his contract is up.

How do you know the Saints didn't try? How do you know the Dolphins didn't try? You are speculating that the Saints didn't try, or they "blew" it.

Blew it means they didn't sign him not that they didn't try.

I will say this, the Cowgirls went all out for him. Jones, every coach from offense was there, etc etc and they made a huge deal for him to come and fully guaranteed his 3 years.

Did the Saints try all of that? We'll likely never know.

Poor Collins lost about $10mm though from this crap. I hope he can try to sue Schefter.

This is an idiotic statement.

You act like they had ultimate control in this case.

Think it's best everyone goes their seperate ways here. He's not on the team and we had what looks to be a very solid draft. We can table this discussion until Mo Claiborne is cut and the Saints don't try to pick him up.

Saints missed the boat on this one. We should have drafted him. I wish La'el all the best.

I've heard that he's a cowboys fan anyway. Oh well, now we can put this to rest

I blame him and Payton and everyone else who has a say in the draft for passing on him. They flat out blew it. Could have drafted him anywhere in the draft and the only team he could have talked to about playing in the NFL this year would have been the Saints. He said he would not play this year if drafted after the 3rd round. We had 2 3rd round picks. The CB we took in the 3rd may turn out to be an all pro or he may be a bust, but I would have put my money on Collins. He fills a big time need and a long with Peat, would have solidified the o-line for years to come.

So you would rather the possibility of drafting a player who might have gone to jail (because no teams knew the real story) over a pick who you know will be on the team?

No team drafted Collins. So I guess 31 other teams also blew it. Hell, for all we know it came from a higher up for no team to draft him. It's hard to blame Loomis and Payton for not drafting him when every other team knew to do the exact same thing.

Why could we have not risked a measly 7th round draft choice on him?

Because his agent said they wouldn't sign if drafted after the 3rd and agents never lie to improve the amount of money their clients will get paid.

I really feel the NFL blackballed him. I feel they told all the teams not to draft him so they would not be caught up if the situation took a turn for the worse. Otherwise, someone would have drafted him with a late pick, regardless of what his agent said. Anyhow, if it was me, I would want a fresh start after this nightmare. Good luck to La'el and at least it isn"t the Falcons!
