That was not a pass. it was a fumble. how is it not chiefs first down?
Posted on 12/20/20 at 4:48 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
Because the ball can't be advanced on a fumble.

No, it would’ve been replaced where the fumble occurred not where it was picked up.

Can’t advance fumble on 4th down
Saints should've challenged saying it WAS a fumble to get the turnover on downs instead of allowing the punt

Trying to find the rule online, but I just read by NCAA rules, it's a replay of the down after a 5 yard penalty.

91 yards for the tie at halftime

How is that type of penalty not a loss of down... Defense makes great play yet the offense benefits.

He can’t advance it if it’s ruled a fumble. It was not ruled a fumble and reviewing would likely not have changed that outcome. If you decline, the result of the play stands. If you accept 5 TD penalty is assessed and the down is replayed.

If they hold on 4th down and we accept, the down is replayed.
I would think the illegal forward pass penalty being accepted is the same.
Of course. I don't know why this is complicated. Payton COULD have challenged saying it was a fumble, and gambled for better field position. Lineman could not have advanced a 4th down fumble.

Honestly how do things happen during Saints games I’ve never seen in my life in other NFL games!?

Loop hole the heck out of that rule.
I don't think it is a loop hole. It's 1st and probably only time incompetence.

If the saints challenged and it was ruled a fumble it would have been saints ball where mahomes fumbled. He saints thought they couldn’t win the challenge so they didn’t.

Chiefs got away with a blatant illegal hands to the face.

And then they don't overturn it and we're out of all challenges because the refs are incompetent.

It is if it's an illegal forward pass beyond the line of scrimmage.
