Kyle Lauletta from Richmond university.

Developmental QB but after watching his highlights and what he did in the senior bowl, I like what I see. Standing at 6 foot 3, this small school kid has patience in the pocket, big arm, tremendous accuracy, and has some solid speed. I think he'd be a solid heir to Brees' throne.

Career stats:
758 Completions
1194 Attempts
63.5 Completion percentage
10,465 Passing Yards
8.8 YPA
73 TDs
35 INTs

I know we need a QB for the future...I just don't know if we should address that this year.

We are already down our 2nd rounder and our 3rd could be a potential year 1 starter depending on the position that is selected.

We are so close to the top of the mountain I just don't see how you don't push all chips in one last time with Brees especially based on how he looked the last 3 years combined.

Either full commit on a QB of the future or don’t...

For me it’s either Baker Mayfield or just wait till next year. Maybe even year after that...

I don't understand the developmental QB route. At this point take the guy who's going to be your dude after Brees. Not someone you hope can develop down the road.

I think using a 3-5th rounder on a QB again is almost more unforgivable than just using your first.

agreed. Ive said this in multiple threads already myself.

We need to solidfy our team for a run at next year. We should wait atleast 1 more year. Considering Drew has ATLEAST 2 more years, if not 4 more years.

frickING THIS!

As many guys that have been floating around the league lately, I’d be cool with not drafting a QB and just finding one in FA or trading for a solid backup (ala Jimmy G).

Lets ride Drew out and use his allotted money on someone in FA when his time is up. Imo, even an old Drew is a better young QB, only if we continue to turn our defense into what it can be. If everyone is healthy next year, we are going to have a top 10 defense. The ceiling being a top 5 defense...

This. Either go all in for our qb for the future or finish the pieces needed for a SB. Don't waste a valuable pick on tryuing to find some project qb.

Agreed. Good post.

I'm assuming we get at least 2 more good years out of Brees. I'd rather acquire as much talent as possible while Brees is playing at an elite level. Keep adding talent to the defense & get Brees a couple more weapons. Thankfully, our entire starting O-Line is under contract for the next 2 years (assuming we use the 5th year option on Peat). We just need to add some legit depth if we don't retain Kelemete & Strief. We're actually in a damn good position right now.

As I've stated in the past...we really need to have a good defense & a good O-Line for when Brees is gone. We're probably screwed if we have to break in a new QB with a questionable O-Line or defense. Building up these 2 things will also give us a chance to win a championship while Brees is still here (and who knows...maybe we get lucky & Brees gives us 3 or 4 more years). It's a win-win situation.

If we have another great off-season in 2018...we will probably have the luxury of using a high-mid round pick on a QB in 2019. It's just that we're only a few pieces away from having an elite roster from top to bottom in 2018.

So, he has the size, patience, arm power and accuracy, and is mobile, yet is a third round project? I don’t get it. Being from a small school can’t possibly impact his draft status that much could it?

I hope they don't think any of their picks are a luxury. No QB.
