I did say a couple of weeks earlier that Cush would be a good pick because of the versatility and having two C/G combos that couple really help this team. I like the pick. We keep Brees protected and the lanes open then the offense will be better. And just like LSU this year. The best defense for the saints is keeping our defense off the field.

Fans want flashy picks in the draft so they can drool over highlights. OL is boring, but damn will it be appreciated more down the road.

Exactly.
You know what else, we could have every weapon in the world but it won't matter because they'll never see the ball if 9 spends the entire day on his back.
Interior OL has always been a bigger need for us because Drew isn't the tallest QB ever, so he needs to step up in the pocket more. Not sure how addressing this with the best player in the entire draft to do so is a bad thing, but I guess the patrons of "Saints Talk" know more than the current regime
What's also amazing is how this site bitched all year about Klein, especially in pass coverage, he leaves, and suddenly LB is a need that we need to fill because we "have to replace Klein"
????????
We spent 3 months on here saying it's the deepest WR draft in years, there will be value to be had in rounds 2-3 at WR, better to wait on a wideout, etc. Then we do so and people lose their minds. Do any of you do a single thing rationally?
Honest to God, if all most of you care about if "flashy" and "cool" draft picks go cheer for the fricking Giants or something. Sure you'll get sexier moves and bigger names, enjoy going 4 and fricking 12 every year. Go throw $45 million at Suh and let me know how it goes. Terrible move but it gets your load off to make a splash pick. Some of the things posted on this site in the last 12 hours should warrant an examination by a licensed medical professional

Amen to that post. Seems many people want to have a flash guy on offense to make an impact (running back, receiver, tight end) and overlooks the guys in the trenches that really do a lot to make it all click.
I think he will be a good addition to the roster.

You're not wrong about your comments about the offensive line and there's nothing wrong with the pick but you are wrong about the Saints not being biased against LSU. It could just be a coincidence and I don't have the numbers in front of me right now but the Saints are definitely an outlier in the league when it comes to not drafting LSU players. Don't forget, there are only 32 teams in this league and LSU, in most years, has the most players in the NFL of any University or at the very least are #2.

Glad you watch football.
Me, you, funbunch, wickedway might be the only couple on here that do.
Have seen some truly idiotic things typed on here today. A few bordering on mental retardation. One or two that encompass sheer lunacy
Y'alls self-righteousness, arrogance and back patting is almost as bad as the LSU Baseball fans on here.

LB position isn’t as important As it used to be
And we suck at developing linebackers so why waste a high pick on one?

acutally think the Saints will win another superbowl during the Drew Brees / Sean Payton era. That ship has sailed
Agree. The Saints have been so close so many times. They're not going to keep getting all these chances. The Saints aren't the Patriots. They don't play in the pathetic AFC East and get all the calls from the officials. And now Golden Boy is in the same division as the Saints and everybody but the Failclowns just got a lot better this year.

frick you Ben. It’s not a crime to want just one fricking LSU player to cheer for on the saints.
I agree with the rest of your post about BPA at a position that we obviously need.

It's not sexy, but I like the pick. Even if Warford is on the team this year, he's gone in 2021. Worst case scenario Ruiz is starting by year 2.

Well informed post. Really took advantage of some hard hitting data and analytics here. Good facts and statistics to support your utterly bogus claims

Per @bdstats #Saints rookie Center Cesar Ruiz in 36 games at Michigan was not once flagged for a holding call.

I don't care what offensive line grade the interior of the Saints OL has received or any pro bowl selections they have.
In big games, they had their teeth shoved in.
Ruiz is the new starter at center.
The other interior OL personnel are competing for starting guards and backup center.
The changes were needed.

Can we talk about Throckmortin too?
This guy was noticeably first off the bench when Ruiz slid over. We didn’t miss a beat. I’ve heard this kids name thrown around, but assumed he was a UDRFA camp body type. I looked him up and he was a 2 time power 5 all American. Is there a back story here? What a steal.
