That is what I have been telling people all day.
We drafted him in the 4th and he has way over performed based upon that draft slot.

I’m sure the Eagles and the rest of the NFL were going to give us a 3rd but we only requested a 5th and 6th?

We're not there, for all we know other team members could have been telling staff to get him the frick out of there. We already know he was refusing to let the coaches coach him. Yeah, I mean he came out of Florida with a reputation of having a bad attitude. I have no problem believing this was becoming an issue and he could cause some problems in the locker room and down the line for the team.
He was a playmaker no doubt and sad to loose that. But if you lose the locker room - that's worse.

Do I feel like we should have gotten a 3rd? Yeah. Do I think we could have gotten a 3rd? Given what we got I doubt it.
Apparently him wanted to get paid mega bucks was a huge detriment to his value.
And if we kept him for 1 more year we have no clue if things would have gone south or if he would have even played.

Why not put the franchise tag on him at the end of the season if they were so worried he would walk in FA. Gives you more time to work things out if you really wanted to keep him

i.e.
The Saints wanted/needed to get rid of him

Im not as knowledgeable on the situation as some of you guys but if we couldn’t come to terms it would seem we really didn’t have any leverage and just took what we could get.
