Needs throw with a wider base. He stands straight up on tip toes with a narrow base and throws all arm. No kinda hips or anything. Would help his accuracy.

IF he continues to play like he played the last 5 games last year. 14 TD, 2 INT over the last 5 to end the season. Add a good offensive play caller and a year of continuity with his offensive weapons and it’s a possibility. Because this is an in IF thread, IF he played like that all year, the Saints will win the NFC South.

he had some legit weapons
This bs excuse is getting old. There’s consistently someone wide open he misses every drive. Slow through progressions, doesn’t step up into the pocket .. has a gay face

he's a preacher so he knows how to address a crowd (the media).
He'll make some throws where you're' like, okay where has that been? But that's usually in a comeback effort. He needs to how to be the guy that gets in front and knows how to maintain it.
And not get so rattled.
And that's not easy seeing how for most of his career, has been opposite of that.

he can stay healthy and his left tackle doesn’t get him killed. I think that his problems in the middle of last year were due to his injuries.

Why the hate against Carr? he’s been fighting injuries and getting no protection. Remember the start of the season, he was winning games - a couple of bad games don’t mean anything.

TigerSaurus would be a good poster if he didn’t post.

Carr is a good player in the right system. I honestly think he will be a top 10 QB under Kubiak IF they can protect him.
my thoughts exactly. he's a decent qb as is. makes some good plays, makes some mistakes. our oline will determine our season. i'm more concerned about our depth at safety than i am derek carr. he could stand to have better composure.

So a couple of good games don’t mean anything either? So what exactly are we using to assess the type of QB he is then?

Look his oline was bad- no doubt. But there were some dumb throws and mental mistakes he was making that had nothing to do with the oline or injuries.
That being said we lost Peat and Ram and are adding Fuaga- not honestly sure if our oline will be much better unless we have substantial internal growth.
Look I hope Carr succeeds but his latest track record says he probably won’t. Its the same up and down play hes had with the raiders the past couple of years.

With time in the pocket and in rhythm, Carr has looked pretty decent.

Agree. I think a good top 5-18 offensive line to keep him upright, with minimal direct pressure, and on time would be massive. Weapons would help be a major help as well!

I think ol Bobby said it best "if the Saints can run the ball well Carr will have success".
Running eats the clock. Running well gets you first downs without the pass. Running well can work in all weather conditions and running well sets up the PA which Carr likes.
Carr was 1-5 when throwing over 35 times per game.

So basically as long as you don’t rely upon him to win the game and you’re one of the top rushing teams in the league- we’re good.
That is one expensive arse game manager.

Historically Carr can give you qb 10-20 play, it’s not great but it won’t completely handicap you.
Last year he was learning a new offense (granted this year he is too), I’m really hoping the chemistry with the wr/te/rb’s continues to build.
If the line takes steps forward, hopefully he can progress and shock much of the fan base… a lot has to come together.
