If you drafting a safety at 8, he better be damn close to Ed Reed.

If so then you don’t draft him. The way the experts talk about Downs is in this category. If he is, then it’s a no brainer selection. You’re not forced to do it; you excitedly do so

His potential is more of a Jalen pitre and a Buddha baker type

I've seen the Reed comparison quite a few times. While you may think otherwise, there are definitely those in the "expert"sphere who disagree with you. He's a rangy coverage guy that has great instincts and closing speed who is also a good tackler, or so they claim.

please

Reed had 21 int's his 4 yrs at da U. he went 2, 2, then 9 and 8 INT's with 4 return td's. Caleb had 2, 2, 2. I'm not trying to diminish caleb's talent as a safety but he's a but different mold than Ed Reed and completely not the same free safety type ed reed was.

Guy was the best DB at Alabama as a true freshman, and the best DB at OSU as a sophomore and junior.

Unless his legs are legit about to fall off, the medical flag isn't enough for us to pass on a talent like him.

Even kind of reminds me of another Bama great, Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Good player but don’t want 8th overall. I know I’m in the minority here but if we don’t take Love I hope we go after a big $$ position like wr, edge , cb

Downs and Bain are the two guys I’m fingers crossed praying we don’t pick. If styles and love are gone (and bailey or Reese) give me Mansoor Delane all day. Or one of Tate/Lemon.

We really need to hit on a wr in this draft. Can it be done in a later round ? Probably but the top mocked rd 1 guys seem like very safe bets to come in and produce immediately.

Downs has been talked about as the absolute best prospect in this draft. A DC like Staley can use him like Polamalu and move him all over the field. He was literally built in a factory for his star role.
