Browner or Spiller, which was the biggest waste of money?

Hard to fathom Spiller's lack of usage. Can't we drop Murphy and let Spiller do some special teams work and go fill a need elsewhere? Browner is known for being heavily penalized. The dude is pretty bad, but maybe is turning a corner for us. It seems like he should be strong safety with his physical play, but he doesn't turn and cover well enough to justify this signing. With Lewis back, I'd rather see Lewis and Breaux.

Well Spiller was injured and since his return they have been using him more. Although the way they use him is starting to become a little predictable. I think we will continue to see more Spiller as the weeks go on.

I agree, but it's coming along pretty slowly.

Um no.

You don't get rid of promising rookies to make room for FA's.

Spiller.

We shouldn't pay to a backfield 10 million, we don't run enough for that. Imagine if instead of CJ Spiller we would have signed a WR. Think about how much better off the offense would be at this point.

Browner...without a doubt. More penalties than passes broken up. Has been targeted by every team on big downs (3rd or 2nd and long). He's the worst DB I've seen in the NFL this year.

Ingram (3 yards and a cloud of dust)
browner (he needs to be used creatively..not as a starter)
byrd (by a long shot)

If you have a tandem of spiller and robinson this would be better, IMO. Then again, Spiller and Ivory would be best.

Being injured doesn't explain how little they have been using Spiller. He hasn't had more than 3 rushing attempts in a game. Against Philly, a game where one would think he would be used a lot because we were playing from behind in the 2nd half and he's pretty far away from that scope now, he had 2 total yards. If it wasn't for 1 80 yard play he would have 110 yards in 5 games played. At this pace he might make it to 400 yards on the year. It makes no sense that we would make him our highest paid rb to pretty much not use him at all.

At least Browner actually plays.

What need are you going to fill by dropping Murphy??

I'm not ready to give up on either one yet.

Spiller obviously has some potential in this offense. We need to offload Ingram or Robinson (IMO) to get him more involved. At the moment it's just not worth disrupting what they have going in the ground game, and I think they want to get away from the whole "let me relay exactly what we're doing via the personnel!" thing.

Browner, despite getting torched, still brings something to this team I think. He is still a captain. He is a leader on this defense.. and he is a good mentor for our young guys.

I'd say between those two it's Browner but only because Spiller had been hurt. They need to use Spiller in a two back set or in the slot. Get him matched up on a LB.

Now the biggest waste of money is Junior Gallete. We've got about 30 million in dead money tied up between this year and next.

The way Browner plays in the box he should be at SS. When he is facing the ball and running downhill, he can lay the wood.

CBs should be Lewis, Breaux, and Swann.

I think Payton has no idea how to use Spiller right now. He is trying futilely to reincarnate Sproles.

The supidest thing the front office did in the last few years was not resign Sproles.

both have value if you use them right

asking browner to man up with no help over the top of him is just asinine but ryan continues to do it. his weakness is speed to defend over the top. Give him help and let him maul people at the line like seattle or new england did and he becomes a much different player

they just need to use spiller more. i mean the role is there for him..use him like sproles in 2011. Just use him.
