Anyone else getting the vibes that Saints, Bo Nix, Klint Kubiak west coast offense, and even Derek Carr and Bo Nix's personalities all vibe really well together like this could be a perfect match?

I'm actually a little higher on Nix than most. Granted, most think he sucks. I think he has the potential to be a decent NFL starter one day. And he'd be a great back up. Would much rather him than Heanor. But I just can't see any way to justify using the draft capital it would take to get him unless he falls into the 3rd round and we traded up. I'm not sure I could justify that either unless he's really high on their board.

Not a Nix fan. In the SEC, he folded like a cheap tent under pressure. He also is older than most rookies. Pass.

my idea would be if him or penix made it to 2nd round. i'm not thinking anything higher.

Kubiak actually wants to throw it past the LOS, so no.

I think I could see it if we didn't have Carr. The team has too much invested in Carr at this stage to bail. If they were really interested in adding a rookie QB, they would have passed on restructuring Carr and gotten cap compliant in some other way so they could get off him after next year.

For better or worse, we're stuck with Carr.

We have so many other needs. I want us to trade back and take OT, DE, DT and LBer in the first two rounds. Pick up Joe Milton with a compensatory pick and develop him while Carr plays out his contract.

I would rather Jordon Travis from Florida State at pick 150.

I could see Sean Payton having a interest in Bo Nix though.

In fairness the overall consensus on this board is that every QB prospect except for Burrow and Daniels sucks

As for Nix I’ve read mixed stuff some scouts liked his tape but apparently he was terrible at the Senior Bowl. I don’t worry about all the dump offs, that’s probably a product of the offense they run at Oregon. I agree Kubiack has the pedigree to develop a QB but my concern with taking a QB now is Carr’s contract, looks like we are stuck with him for 3 more years or have to eat a massive shite sandwich like the Broncos are doing and we do have other bad contracts that could blow up. All that just wastes the time on r rookie deal

this really isn't about replacing carr over the next 2 years. but it is about bringing in a capable young backup who could be a cheap option to see if he can be the future past carr. i like penix a good bit too. Very accurate imo.

Drafting a QB in the first would be next level dumb.

Making Nix that QB could be disastrous for the franchise.

By the time Carr is done (3+ years from now), Nix won't be that cheap for long.

Well if we picked him in the 1st, we would have the ability to play him on his 5th year option. If we pick him in the 2nd round, they only have 4-year contracts. With Carr looming, that would be dumb.
