here we go with the way early edition

1KC Luke Joeckel OT TxAM- I don't think Geno Smith grades to a #1 and the Chiefs go Vick, Alex Smith, or another known commodity at QB. Joeckel is a franchise player

2JAX Jarvis Jones LB GA- Some QB questions still but Jones looks like a immediate plug in high impact playmaker

3OAK Star Lotulelei DT Utah - Looks like Seymour and Kelly will be gone. Perfect replacement to anchor the middle of a D

4PHIL Bjoern Werner DE FlSt- Iggles have gone from allstars to allbums. They just take the best player available

5DET Damontre Moore TxAM- They don't look inclined to have Cliff Avril back. Moore could come in and be an upgrade

6CLEV Dion Jordan ORE- plenty of needs, Geno Smith possibly here if they think he is the sure answer over Weeden. Chudzinski's experience with Newton will prolly weigh in here too. I go with the more surefire need filler here. Jordan and Sheard would be a nice young DE tandem

7ARZ Geno Smith WV- If all I had was Skelton and Kolb I'd give him a try here

8BUFF Dee Milliner CB ALA- They could stretch for a QB like Glennon or Tyler Wilson. I go for a need filler and BPA contender. WR Keenan Allen on the radar here too

9NYJ Keke Mingo LSU- Everything you want in a 3-4 OLB, great value/need fit

10TEN Johnthan Banks CB MsSt- tremendous need meets value perfectly here too

11SD Johnathan Hankins NT OSt- approaching can't pass on value here, UFA Abrayo Franklin is all they had this year

12MIA Eric Fisher OT CentMI- I think Jake Long walks elsewhere, Fisher thanks TxAM Matthews for returning and giving him millions more as the #2 LT

13TB Xavier Rhodes CB FLSt- passed on Claiborne, moved Talib, Wright a flop that couild be let go. That much fail calls for help even if a little stretch at 13

14CARO Sheldon Richardson DT MIZ- Several directions they could go in for this value range and needs. They could take the top safety or guard as easily.

15 New Orleans Saints, Ziggy Ansah, BYU

We have a front page thread on him if ya don't know him. In this mock it's the more surefire Sam Montgomery or the higher upside not so ready Ansah. I could see either. I go Ansah just from the Saints history of taking upside risk guys.

The Ansah is finally here!

In a deep DE draft I just can't see us reaching for a project like this in the first round, should we target a DE.

12 of 15 picks on Defense... kind of lopsided... although talent may dictate it to an extent

If the Saints take that guy at the 15th they deserved to be kicked in the mouth.

Yeah...the Saints have a track record of that happening. Leave it to history to prove me wrong.

our track record in round 1, we might as well trade the pick for a veteran.

I will be totally shocked if the chiefs take a qb with the #1 spot. Makes no sense to do so.

Take a flyer on the most important position in which they are terrible at. These days, you aren't spending 65 plus million on the #1 pick like previous years. If you draft Geno, doesn't work out... you aren't setting your franchise in a hole for 5 years like before.

List of do-not-wants:

Mingo
Ansah
Jordan (x1000)
Williams
T'eo

Also not too fond of Hankins or Jenkins but I'd take them over any of the above guys.

True. However, normally when you draft a QB at #1 you fee pretty confident in the prospect's skills and projection to the NFL (as confident as you can be). Taking Geno at #1 would be like taking the 5th best QB at #1 on a normal year. Trade down, try to get an extra #1.

Ansah is coming down to the Senior Bowl. Should be interesting to watch him. Reading about him is one thing but I haven't seen him play at all this year.

I think this mock is fairly plausible. Don't have any objections with the saints pick, since I love me some Ansah. I do think the Bills pick will be a QB, I know you said it wouldn't change anything in this. But, the Bills GM has a history of telling everyone exactly what he wants and then doing it. I think he makes a reach on a QB.
