Both would be cost concerns IMO.

I'm not sure either are franchise future QBs, so it's either a bridge or win now. I don't see our win now state, outside of a terrible NFC South. I wouldn't spend significant contract on either.

We need a tank year for the 2024 QBs.

We need to make a decision. I don’t believe this roster is built to be elite without elite quarterback play. And you don’t have that and likely won’t get that out of one of those two guys. So throwing money at this isn’t going to fix it.

So do we take our cap licks, purge this roster of bullshite, and get a staff and core group that wants to win?

Probably not. We’ll sign some has been to a stupid contract and then return to perpetual .500 seasons for the foreseeable future

Pro: they are both good enough that if you have a solid defense, some weapons, and a strong oline; you’ll make the playoffs and may even contend for a SB appearance until the rest of the NFC starts getting quality QBs.

Con: we’ll be seeing more salary cap shenanigans for the next 10+ years, as they continue to go all in and mortgage the future to save the HC & front office their jobs

I will be in the minority on this but take a flyer on Hendon Hooker early third round and name him the starter early and hope he swims. At his age, he should be mature enough to handle it, and you are more likely to get a clear picture in a single season of his ability than you would with a kid at 21. Obviously its a homerun if he shows the goods to be worthy of passing on a QB1 in 2024 and if not, he doesn't put you farther into cap hell like signing Garoppolo or Carr would.
