Arizona wanted a win bad to stay in playoff hunt. We destroyed an above average defense for 48.

Tampa Bay was the 6th seed going in and now is almost eliminated. Handled them rather easily.

If we beat Atlanta in Atlanta when they want the 2nd seed this team will reinforce what we have said all along.

This team does need a few more players but execution and player improvement are also important. Getting to 8-8 does hurt our draft pick but with the close losses that happened this season there is a lot to build on. Next year will be a great year.

The benefit I get from the Saints winning out is the satisfaction of watching people melt, from wanting them to lose for a higher draft pick. Winners play to win, losers play to lose. Maybe it's time to pick another team if you're a loser.

we closed out last year winning three of the last four and supposedly had momentum going into this season.

I get what you're saying but in until we prove otherwise there isn't much that's gonna fire me up right now.

the inconsistency of this team is flabbergasting.

Hopefully next year we can avoid the injury bug for starters. That would take us further than this year for sure.

A high draft pick doesn't mean shite to me. Look at Browns and Titans, and many others. We need more draft picks like we had in 2015. One player, unless he can possibly be a franchise QB and learn behind Brees isn't gonna make us a great team. I hope the Saints kill the Falcons.

I agree, winning out doesn't build momentum for a completely other football season. Hopefully we build on a good FA next year and of course a good draft.

In the end, no team is going to intentionally lose. Players are playing for their jobs, coaches are coaching for their jobs. For all they know, the player they draft could be their replacement. The player they draft could be drafted by the next regime. They're never gonna lose on purpose.

This team is young. It is good for the young players to go out there and win.

A lot of things didn't go our way this year but there is no doubting that the '16 team is way better than the '14 or '15 teams, whatever their record says. Now we have an offseason where we have breathing room with the cap and a solid roster already in place, arguably the best since 2011. Another offseason like 2016 and this team will be locked and loaded.

Now go out and beat the frick out of the birds.

I can't think of a better way to usher in the New Year than watching Drew toss 5 TDs on the Falcons

I already coped with us having a pick somewhere in the mid to high teens. Let's go frick the Falcons and screw up their playoff seeding.

At this point in time the difference in picks is not a justification is laying down to the Falcons.

I honestly think we're pretty close to a solid playoff team if we'd get a little more consistency in the play calling. I think so much in the way he nfl is just getting on a roll /getting used to winning. We are about 3 or 4 plays from double digits wins. Just need to breakthrough

Yeah I don't understand anyone's reasoning for their team to lose. I don't watch sports because I like losing, and I for damn sure don't care if we get the 8th pick or the 15th pick... Because regardless the FO will frick it up

I think it is funny that people discount the ability to have a higher draft pick.

I understand the things that were said:

1) One player doesn't make a huge difference.
2) Wins carry over to next year

I look at the draft like this. If you need a DE then why not get one of the top 2 DEs in the draft and you do that by drafting high. If you want a CB then you get one of the top 2 by drafting high.

I believe like many that the Saints are close. There record may indicate that. Because of this they are not the Browns or Titans--one player could make a huge difference and put them over the top from being a 7-8 win team to winning 10-11.

Agreed. atlanta was 8-8 last year and made a run this year. Carolina went to the Super Bowl and can't buy a win this year. The difference in a 6-10 team and a 10-6 team is not that big in today's NFL. The outliers are the Browns/49ers and the Patriots/Raiders. If we can add a playmaker on defense and get healthy, we are a pretty good team.

I agree. Biggest thing is that this year was a step in the right direction

A) they nailed some draft picks

Rankiins - stud
Thomas - he's impressive as any rookie we've ever had. No clue how high his ceiling is

B)

Didn't break the bank in free agency. Not a fan of the fleener signing, but he has had his moments. Fairley, Robertson... A+.

Another good draft mixed with the young talent and they are a playoff team/outside of a couple of games they were competitive all year. Last year they weren't as competitive. Cap space should clear up finally. I think they are least get a winning record next year.
