Are the colts potentially the deciding factor in the Watson sweepstakes?

Colts seem to be the only team potentially interested in Matt Ryan.

There have also been reports that they (the colts) have been in talks with Winston.

I think it’s safe to presume that a Winston cap hit would be far lower for the colts than Ryan and they have a relatively comparable performance.

Given this, if the colts know that they can sign Winston if Watson chooses New Orleans, then what incentive do the Colts have to trade for Ryan?

And if the colts prefer a lower cap hit with Winston, would this prevent the falcons from trading Ryan, causing Deshaun to pick New Orleans after Atlanta stalls to make a Ryan trade?

Very possible.
But I really hope it ends soon either way.
The Falcons would have to work some magic to make the Watson move without trading Ryan. They can't cut him, as the cap hit would be too big. Watson could be giving them time to sign some receivers soon too. I definitely wouldn't count us out until Schefter/Rapoport says it's over.

I don’t see why anyone would trade for Matt Ryan. He’s not young, he’s not great and he’s not cheap.

Because he could lead the colts to a SB?

I can’t see the Colts wanting Ryan after the year he just had. Maybe because he’s cheap? Idk. I don’t see why they wouldn’t just go hard for someone younger like Jimmy G, Winston or Baker

I could see Ryan being interested in the Colts but I can’t say the same for the Colts. Ultimately, Ryan has to waive his trade clause. And he’s not going to do that for some dumpster fire teams

Ryan would be a decent fit for Cleveland. Seems like the Saints and Pittsburgh would be interested if his salary reduced by him being cut

Ryan would have to want to go there too. He's got a no trade clause also. Ryan could really screw the falcons and force them to release him.
