he's getting benched because it's the BUCS and we could probably win with Brunell throwing passes to Courtney Roby.

Then wouldn't we also have benched Drew and Colston

FWIW Bushrod has performed 59th in pass blocking (66th overall). Last year Jamal Brown performed 58th in pass blocking (49th overall). Though Brown's rating was a lot better.

Bushrod

Brown

this is where we missed Bush. Love him or hate him he is good at picking up the blitz and helping blocking

And also had 10 penalties. For comparison, no other starting O-line player for the Saints had more than 5.

Brown is a good T, no doubt. But he isn't the elite LT people think he is.

While I agree that Bushrod leaves a bit to be desired, with Brown out, what do you expect?

Strief isn't that much better.

Neither are as good as our fans think. But Bushrod is definitely worse. You could see it in games following the Giants games. When going up against certain DE's, Bushrod gets worked.

This isn't in question here. He isn't on the field. Bushrod is in question. I see NIH's point, but I don't agree with the extreme that he is making it. Bushrod is serviceable. He isn't better than Brown, but it isn't as bad as most LTs. I'd take him over, probably, half the stating LTs in the league.

This is similar to Drew Brees going down with a similar IR injury and Mark Brunnel is having a decent year... we're still 13-1 and all that good stuff and someone comes on here to bitch because he threw a couple picks and some bad throws one game against the best passing defense in the NFL.

brown allowed a franchise low in sacks and led the the saints as the #2 rushing team off of the left tackle in 2008. LINK

sounds elite to me.

except that it's been obvious to those who 'get' football that bushrod has been terrible for most of the season. leave the football talking to the men while you get dressed up in makeup, chad.

brown is a top 10 tackle in the league. bushrod is bottom 10. thats a huge difference at that position.

He has given up 8 sacks (only 4 have given up more) but only committed 5 penalties. So that's about right.
