Allen only gets a year because we were sold on continuity

This isn’t the same situation as a new coach starting with a new team. Saints fans were told the promotion of Allen was to continue the culture built by Payton.

Well if that results in a double digit loss season, then the continuity has failed and Allen hasn’t earned a chance to make it right.

I’m hoping he’ll be a true one and done coach, and we can start a proper rebuild with a young offensive mind and a new direction. We may have to eat shite for 2023-2024 while the build happens, but it’s the only way to start some momentum.

Why don't you hope he turns it around and is successful? Why does everything have to crumble with so many of you?

I'm being that guy, and what I'm gonna say isn't 100% but overall, it's the truth. People who didn't play football past the 6th grade crumble and fall apart when their teams struggle, they are usually the ones that want coaches fired after a few bad games. Same people who call players a bust b/c they didn't make All Pro rookie year. They just simply don't grasp development.

There’s ZERO chance he gets fired before 2024

Man it's just such an emotional response.
So far we have had a RB fumble and kill a drive, a receiver with an unforced fumble after a long catch, missed kicks, blocked kicks, awful (incorrect) penalties called, and self-inflicted pre-snap penalties. It's been unfortunate and miserable but a lot of the above are able to be corrected.

He's on auto fired until he wins a game

And I think you are wrong.
GM's will fire a coach first rather than admit anything is their fault.
DA knows he has a short leash. He didn't come in on a rebuild as they tried to give him a team ready to win now.

My issue isn't DA it's the lack of offensive vision and execution. Carmichael needs to be axed after Sunday if we put up another terrible performance. With the weapons on offense there is no reason it should be so bad.

Why is DA getting so much criticism? The offense is horrendous and he was force fed Winston and Carmichael...Let the man choose an offensive staff before we bust out the pitchforks

Sports message board The criticism of SP was insane after the 15 and 16 season. The boys come out in full force melting and crumbling, they don’t see anyway coaches or players can ever improve

Allen is riding with Winston all the way to 4-13. They will continue to bury their heads into the sand during press conferences.

The issue here is the level of incest in the building. Everyone in the building is part of the family. To have gone outside and conducted a real coaching search could've resulted in a coach coming in and overhauling numerous aspects of the franchise where people who are part of the family work. There were dual motives at hand in keeping continuity. Payton caught them off guard and they didn't want to go through full scale upheaval so they took the easy way out and hoped it would work out. It might've worked out if Brees was still around in his prime or near prime. It's not gonna work out with this QB situation.

This is so cringe. Many of us played team sports through college and we’re smart enough to know when a product looks terrible it is indeed terrible.

Especially when the person who is in charge of fixing it failed so gloriously before.

He’s a great coordinator but that’s all he is. There’s been many like him before and there will be many like him after.

Allen controls all of this. He controlled who would be his OC and he settled for mediocrity and status quo.

He was awful with the Raiders and he looks completely over his head with the Saints. He hasn’t earned any leeway.

It’s both. They are connected.

Getting rid of Allen ensures everyone else is gone.
