I’m obviously biased on Dart. Shamelessly stole this off someone else on Reddit but…

Jaxson Dart key metric rankings vs rest of qb’s in class.
Total Yards Per Game: 1st
• Pass Yards Per Game: 2nd
• Rush Yards Per Game: 2nd
• Passer Rating: 1st
• PFF Pass Grade: 1st
• TD to INT: 2nd
• Interception % of attempts: 1st (lowest)
• Average Target Distance: 1st
• Big Time throws Per Game (Difficult Tight
Window/Deep Passes): 1st
• Big time Throw vs Turnover Worthy Play
Differential: 1st (highest)
• Turnover Worthy Play Rate: 3rd
• Time To Throw: 4th
• Yards Per Attempt: 1st
• QB Allowed Pressure Rate: 1st (lowest)
• Pressure to Sack: 5th
• Age: 1st (Youngest)
• Intermediate Completion %: 1st
• Middle Field Completion %: 1st

Curious what positions do you think are not a position of need? because age, injury history and poor play pretty much covers our entire roster.

You have a point here, but not all positions are as critical as others. Sometimes the difference is less tangible, like this guy is graded higher athletically or this guy has strong leadership qualities, which is much harder to put on paper. Sometimes it's based on potential upside and sometimes it's based on if you think the guy can come in and have an immediate impact.

These factors are at play even with lower seasonal expectations and a crap roster. Each pick is like a hand of cards and the draft is the tournament. You have to play each hand a little differently.

I don't think its a bias thing, if it was my choice he'd be my pick too. I think Sanders has the best upside but Dart has all of the characteristics that I would look for in a rookie QB.

Well that does it, Saints are drafting Sanders.

You should always draft a QB in the first if you don’t have your franchise QB already. It’s such a force multiplier to have a great QB with the position importance and rookie contract that I’d rather take a shot at Shedeur and draft another one next year if he doesn’t pan out.

I don’t think the Saints take either at 9.

But Sanders doesn’t fit into what Moore has traditionally done with his qb’s. He’s had Dak, Herbert and Hurts. All three are similar in size and play style to Dart. Guys who can run and throw a good deep ball. Sanders is not a good runner and has the weakest arm in the class.

His adot was 8.8 which put him 338 out of 400 qb’s in 2024 with more than 100 attempts. 27% of his passes were at or behind the los. Sanders had 30 total rush yards over four years with three years of negative rush yards. Including his only two years in D1.
