Can't remember, did he smile after the backwards pass?

Unless he threw more than one backward pass (which is entirely possible), it happened in Qualcom Stadium in San Diego, in November 2004. I attended that game with friends who were Chargers season ticket holders. Before the game, my friend asked me how I thought Brooks would play. I responded "you mean Fuzzy Brooks?". He asked why I called him that, and I said Brooks was a good player but almost every game would have a critical moment where he shite the bed - like a fumble at the goal line or not being ready for a snap. Sure enough, we were in the game when Brooks was pressured and got rid of the ball by throwing it backwards about 12 yards. Deuce had to run back there to recover what was a self inflicted fumble for a 15 yard loss. My friend then says "I see why you call himm Fuzzy Brooks!" Of course we lost that game - Fuzzy Strikes Again!!

Sammy knight is a dude I haven’t thought about in a very long time. He’s an underrated saint udfa find

Yea he had a better overall career than I think people remember.

Sammy Knight 12 year career:

42 career interceptions, 12 forced fumbles, 9 sacks, 1048 tackles, scored 5 defensive TDs,

Tyrann Matthieu 12 year career:

36 career interceptions, 6 forced fumbles, 11 sacks, 819 tackles, scored 4 defensive TDs

Sammy Knight was a very legit nfl playmaker.

Aaron Brooks had the talent to be an All Pro, but he lacked the drive. He played football like a backyard game.

Winston reminded me a lot of Brooks, some games they look all world, some games they're throwing the ball backwards.

Brooks at one point in his career was the top QB in the NFL in last 2 minutes of the game. He was actually a pretty clutch QB. It was the first 3 Qs that was the problem, especially with inconsistencies. I liked AB.

I do wonder, what the frick happened to Blake after that season? He was still a good QB, did he go to another team and not play well. Never remember hearing about him after he left the Saints, or did he retire?

He played for a couple of teams after then retired in 2005.

I keep wondering what the Saints trajectory would have been if Haslett wouldn't have fumbled Jake Delhomme in 2002 and let him go to the Panthers.

Likely would have never had Brees here and who knows of the Saints could have made a Super Bowl run with Jake at the helm of the Saints. I feel confident in saying they would have been in the conversation though.

I like Brooks, but he was not clutch. He was the king of garbage time stats. We’d be behind by 24 points and he’d throw a deep ball for a touchdown to Joe Horn with :45 left on the clock.

It was 2nd & 3 at the Jets 6 when Aaron Brooks ran a play scrambling to the left for a 2 yard gain. At the conclusion of the play, Jets safety Damien Robinson felt it necessary to grab Brooks' facemask and pull it to the point of extending Brooks' torso as his lower body was still caught beneath defenders.

quote:

Kyle Turley was first on the scene and defended his quarterback by reciprocating the act to Robinson.

Brooks never defended Turley’s actions. The Saints organization went along with the NFL’s sanctions against Turley.

I kind of had a frick you response to Brooks from that day on.

Michael Vick is cousins with Aaron Brooks.

Commentators loved talking about this. It's up there with Jimmy Graham playing basketball and Herman Johnson being the biggest baby in Louisiana history

I liked him well enough, but I still to this day get angry thinking about when he was hurt and they wouldn't put Jake in. We could have made a good run if I'm remembering correctly. The dude was bouncing balls at the feet of receivers because his shoulder was so messed up.

I’ll be damned I just realized.

Derek Carr is the white Aaron Brooks.

Carr just handles the media better.

That explains why he has tried a couple got d scrambles the past couple weeks. Lol

Let's give Derek Carr a reliever like Joe horn for awhile before we move him to Aaron Brooks level

2000 was a fun year. 2002 was fun until Haslett refused to bench an injured Brooks and they lost the last 3 to miss the playoffs. 2003-05 sucked except for that 4-game winning steak to end ‘04, complete with the Saints’ first win in Dallas.
