We can structure it so he only eats about half or less.

And the other FAs can be had for $2-4 mil first year hits so don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to sign 5 or so big names.

Drew really should take a team-friendly deal like GOAT so we can legit get back to the Dance.

How many Jimmy John's does a fella need to own, anyway?

While I understand that can be done, should it be done that way? We’ve got such a young team. Do we want to hamstring our chances that much post Drew? I can see it both ways.

Drew should play for $1.

When he becomes mayor he can steal millions through corruption and Id be fine with that.

After his contract (assuming its multi-year), I think realistically we're looking at having 15-20mil in cap space.

Hoping for a five year 80 mil. Deal.

Essentially a 5 yr 98 mil deal with the dead money added in. Spread that to a signing bonus along with an additional 40 mil signing with a 1 mil cap number and he is at 11.66 mil for this year. Leaves 20 mil to add Graham, Okafor and Suh.

When Drew leaves we won't be paying $25 mil for a QB, so we'll have a lot more cap room.

It'll be a one year hit when he finally leaves, not a 2-3 year drug out mess.

And we'd basically be paying a $25 mil QB less now to fit other pieces in to win with that expensive arse QB.

So yeah, we ABSOLUTELY should structure so we can sign guys to win now.

Drew has more Bugatti’s to buy. He’s not taking a team friendly deal.

Maybe you should pay a team-friendly amount for your tickets. You know, to help the team out and all.

25 mil should be the max. Hoping for 24. Will be 27 mil a year probably. Trade Unger and Wofford if brees wants his money. But don't get mad when you get lit up on Sunday because of it.

As a taxpayer of the region, I support this.

Not gonna happen dude. Brees will get his money, & we will still be able to afford other decent size free agents.

Look at Warford's contract from last year. 4 year, 34 mil (8.5 mil per year).

2017 cap # - 3.8 mil
2018 cap # - 9.0 mil
2019 cap # - 10.6 mil (4.2 mil in dead money if cut)
2020 cap # - 10.6 mil (2.1 mil in dead money if cut)

We just saved 2.775 mil against the cap (1.1 mil dead money) after Strief retired.

We also have about 5 other candidates that could possibly be cut to save money.
Hill - saves 2.0 mil (833 k dead money)
Hooman - saves 1.6 mil (333 k dead money)
Kikaha - saves 1.153 mil (522 k dead money)
Stupar - saves 1.725 mil (400 k dead money)
Banjo - saves 1.7 mil (100 k dead money)

Hill would be the only cut that would surprise me (he would have to get beaten out by Hooman). Hooman is almost guaranteed to get cut if we bring in another TE. Kikaha & Stupar have to earn their roster spot in the pre-season. Banjo is very likely to get cut unless he takes a pay cut imo.
