Not a bad deal if you’re the Saints.

There is no way that fourth year (50mil) gets picked up, so his deal is essentially 3 years, 100 million.

33.3 million for a franchise QB is not breaking the bank, and 3 years isn’t exactly a marriage. The Saints front office did real good here.

It's not though. The 5th year already has a $5.7M cap hit, per sportstrac. That's also before we restructure the hell out of the $30M base next year.

$33.3 mm/year for a QB who leads the league in turnovers from 2017-current is an absolutely horrific deal.

If you go since 2018 he is like 4th. With Josh Allen being ahead of him.

He’s not a franchise QB tho

He proved that with the Raiders

He’s in the Top 10.

I’m not sure if that speaks to the sorry state of affairs we’re in when it comes to the QB position, but that’s where we are.

And Geno is a better QB than Carr.

I feel like yall haven't watched him play in 5 years. He's not top 10 at anything, except losses for a starting QB.

I’ll let you figure out the differences between Josh Allen and Derek fricking Carr.

I watched him play in 2021. He threw for 4800 yards.

You think Allen makes less than 40 mill a year?

A. It makes the contract larger than stated in OP

B. We are just getting started on that year5 number. When (not if) we restructure his $30M base salary next year, that number is going up (probably by 6-8M)

Then when we do it again in 2025, it approaches $20M

ETA: that's a void year. He won't be under contract that year

I would rather Geno, but really rather neither and go the direction of cheap and suck to get better long term.
