Larry Holder asked if it was knee/leg specific. Payton's repsonse, "Next Question".

I'm actually quite worried about our pass rush this year. I've felt this way before JR was cut - glad to see the young(er) guys stepping up. The Hicks news is relieving as well.

The "next question" response is always my favorite. He's so terse.

I'm Gus will have fun with that on the Hangover.

The amount of tweets about how poor Jahri Evans looks this camp is really concerning.

Dude just might be done.

He's been a liability the last 2 years...He rated out worse than Grubbs last year also.....The optimist say he was injured with a back in 2013 and a wrist last year, but the injury excuse 2 years in a row for a 31 year old offensive lineman who gets in a collision every single snap doesn't exactly help his case out.....Injuries and poor play do not get better with age.......Yesterday on SR people posed the question about possibly getting Vernon Davis if he was to become available, as nice as that would be and as great as he could be in this offense, I still believe we need to do what we can NOW to get Evan Mathis

Can't come near his asking price

Jason Blalock could be a possibility though

The lack of getting a Guard all offseason has been the most perplexing thing to me. I didn't understand it in FA, I didn't understand it after the draft, and I don't understand it now. I really thought Guard would be a top priority.

Its really weird but, Evan Mathis has to have more in the tank than Evans. It just sounds like he wants to get paid more than we will give.

Not to derail the thread, but I plan on posting in training camp and game threads, if I'm not working.

I'm worried about guard as well. I think you have the question whether Evans body can hold up anymore at this point. I don't want to see a replay of last year where it's obvious that a player is done (Goodwin) but Payton just stays with it. I'm really afraid of this just for the fact that Evans is part of Payton's first draft class, so the attachment there is pretty deep. We'll see. I've heard good things about Kelemente, but I just have doubts that Payton will pull the trigger if Evans struggles.

Sounds like a recipe built to force more turnovers. More sack fumbles produced by the defensive line & forced throws from opposing QB's caused by pressure into the teeth of a more aggressive secondary.

Its been mentioned a few times, but SJB is apparently playing a lot better as well. Its almost as if some players take a couple of seasons to get better. Weird.

I'm really excited about Bobby Richardson. Love that he fell in the draft and we swiped him up as an UDFA...like Brandon Coleman last year. I think they both had a 5th round grade going into the draft. Throw in Tyeler Davison, Tavares Barnes, and Kaleb Eulls...nice young depth that can be stashed on the practice squad

It's as if no player ever has room for growth & development. How a player plays his first season determines how he will fare for the rest of his career, I guess. Must be a new league trend or something.

Talent. Better understanding of the system. Feeling more comfortable in the system which leads to more confidence. Having another, big experienced corner like Brandon Browner tutoring him as to how to play to strengths. I believe those are all reasons as to why SJB is having a much better 2015 camp in comparison as to where he was a year ago this time.

This. It's one thing for a rookie like Peat to struggle his first few days at camp but it's another story though when it's a veteran like Evans who has appeared to be declining over previous two seasons. The talk of Lelito's early struggles doesn’t make matters any better either.

Yea, I'm really worried about the Evans/Lelito guard situation. I know our 2 tackles & Unger will do their jobs. Evans body has to be broken down. He may get passed up by Kelemete, Hickey, or even Peat(if necessary).
