#1 Seed scenario

I’ve heard that if the Saints finish in a three or more team tie with the Eagles & Vikings, the Saints would win a tiebreaker on strength of schedule. For example, lets say Saints, Eagles, Rams, Vikings all end up with same record after this weekend, and then all 4 win out, do the Saints then get vaulted to #1 seed?

I heard the Saints just need to win games and just let everything else play out.

I think you're right. Just plugged the scenario into the ESPN Playoff Machine and Saints 1, Eagles 2, Vikings 3, Rams 4.

That can't be true. The Vikings beat the Saints head to head early in the season.

Yes, you've heard right.
As long as the Eagles are involved in a 3 or more way tie with us, we will win the tiebreaker. If it's us & Rams/Vikings or just Rams or just Vikings, we will lose because of H2H. But with the Eagles involved, we haven't all played each other so it will defer to Conference SOS, which we currently hold the lead in (and should continue to hold because of our division).

This game is a must win just as much as it is for the Failcons

I was in Philly this week. Fans on sports radio are domesday right now. They belief they have no shot without the 1-seed and are worried they’ve peaked and will lose it.

I don't know how many times we have to keep going over this, but that's not true.
If the Saints are in a 3 way tie for first with a team they haven't played (Eagles or Seahawks) and one they have (Vikings or Rams), head to head is thrown out because all the teams didn't play each other.
Saints would likely get the SoV and/or the SoS tiebreaker (the next two tiebreakers) over Minny and LAR, definitely would get it over Philly, and I'm unsure about the Seahawks but they likely lead them also.
But that's only if we beat the Falcons twice, otherwise our SoV will slip.

I don't think it's that easy.
I currently have a scenario on the ESPN Playoff machine where the winner of the GB-Carolina game in week 15 affects if NO is 1 or 2, Minnesota is 1 or 3, and Philly is 2 or 3.
So it's possible that down the stretch we'll be rooting for some random arse games because we beat one of the teams and Minnesota or Philly beat the other.
ETA: I think this should bring you to my scenario.

This is 100% correct and another reason, if we win tonight, to root for Car to beat Min. If Min wins that game it shoots their SoV up a good bit.
We also need Car to beat GB to keep our SoV up and lower Min's.

get out of here with this shite, tonight is not a must win game
In the words of Drew Brees (may have actually be Payton, I don't remember) a "must win" game is one that basically ends your season with a loss. The season is by no means over if we lose tonight on the road on 4 days rest.

There's no scenario that allows us to lose this game and get HFA.

The good news is that after this week (if everything goes right), that's the only divisional opponent playing someone out of our division. So the rest of the ATL, TB, CAR games between each other would be a wash.

we do not need HFA to get to the Super Bowl
would it be nice? yes
absolutely necessary? no
therefore, tonight is not a must win game you clown

There is, but it becomes an extreme long shot at that point.
It also puts Car and Atl back in the hunt for the division and puts us in mild danger of missing the playoffs completely.
Tonight may not be an elimination must win, but it's the next closest thing to it. Home field, a bye, the division, and maybe even a playoff spot depend on it.
