Last edition was 0-2 to 3-2 Crow eaters check in. Quite a few checked in to eat their crow, but some weren't hungry enough yet. Some folks (you know who you are) gave me shite and said: #frickyourcrow #checkbackwhenweare6and2andiwillstartmyownthreadeatingcrow #threestraightyearsof7and9 #waituntilweplaysoandso

Well, this thread isn't about that. I think it's safe to say that most everyone, including some of the "you know who you are's" have admitted their sins (albeit in other threads). I'd also say it's safe to say that all the fair weather fans have come back. The national media has bought in and the bandwagon is filling up again.

I'm a fan through and through and probably one of the bigger sunshine pumpers, so it's no surprise that I kept the faith and still believed whilst we were 0-2. I kid, 0-2 sucked and it felt like the sky was falling. I just didn't get it, I thought we nailed the draft, I thought all of the coaching changes were going to make a difference, I thought the preseason was going to translate to the regular season, I thought we did everything right during the offseason too like coming back from the cursed vacation home of a training facility up in West Virginia. I thought we were going to be competitive again. Then 0-2, and I felt lied to and bamboozled. Then 3-2 and I was like hell yeah we're over 500 for the first time in 4 years. Then 5-2 and you could see what we saw during preseason. Now 7-2 and we look for real. We have 4 starters from the draft playing as rookies. We look well coached (except for special teams), we have a fundamentaly sound defense with playmakers. We have a running game I never could have imagined. We have 2 rookies in contention for OROY/DROY in Kamara and Lattimore. We have, drum roll please, Drew Brees, who hasn't had to put the team on his shoulders yet this year. I feel like we have our most complete team ever. This year feels magical like the '09 year did. Enjoy the ride.

TLDR
Eat your crow if you want to
Random thoughts for $500
We have arrived, enjoy the ride

Before the season I was super hype for the team (but I also was the last 3 years...). I melted down hard at 0-2 and advocated for firing everyone in the organization and cutting everyone not on a rookie contract, so I've eaten crow hard. So glad I was wrong

I won't blame anyone for being pessimistic. This team went 7-9 for three straight years with shite defense, then started this season 0-2... with shite defense. No one could have foreseen the ridiculously quick and effective turnaround.

If you honestly will say that when we were 0-2 you thought we would win 7 straight the way we are winning then I can guarantee you have been fooled by a few trannies in your days.

I’ll shove crow up my butt if it means we’re winning.

Only blind faith and homerism could have seen it coming. No rational person thought this was coming after 0-2. People saw it coming before the season, sure, but after getting pummeled twice...it was hard

I'll eat some crow. After 0-2 I predicted we'd follow the same old script. Go on a little win streak, get back to .500 and get hopes up... then go on a losing streak. But frick our draft position with a few meaningless wins to complete the 7-9 cycle.

I didn't melt. There wasn't a sting or sense of hurt.

I just felt so indifferent to football, in general (as the Saints were 0-2 and LSU just lost to MSU & TROY!)

I really thought this would be the first Fall I would have Saturday's and Sunday's freed from my football addiction.

Yet I had no idea what normal non-sports people do on weekends. I still don't cuz both teams started winning again!

I certainly am glad I was wrong! But this is the sweet, delectable, succulent kind of crow to eat.

To me it's just bad as demand respect and blast people for doubting, as overreact and completely melt over two bad games. No team is immune to this either. Go over to the rant and look at Ed Ogeron threads after Troy compared to now.

To quote the venerable Ms. Taylor Swift

Haters gonna hate. hate. hate. hate.
We just need to shake. shake. shake. shake.
shake it off, shake it off

No one has ever seen anything like this to be honest.

Preseason had a lot more hype around this team compared to previous years. The defense looked very promising. We knew the defense would b better than last year, and expected probably a top 20ish defense based on what we saw.

Then, the season beings. 0-2 start, worst defense in the league, headed toward another 7-9 year... then suddenly you're a juggernaut? 7 straight wins by 8+ points. A dominant defense AND a dominant running game. No one saw this coming after the start to this year.

Some of these Crow Eating threads were entertaining at 1st, but honestly I've been enjoying the ride far too much to worry about who "lost faith" .

Everybody mentions the 3 straight years of 7-9, but it goes deeper than that. From 2014-2016 we had started the year 1-3 each time. To go down 0-2 in the fashion that we did was soul crushing. Our defense was looking 2012 level bad and the running attack we were hoping to get with Ingram/Peterson had yet to materialize. Couple that with how LSU was looking at the time, it was going to be yet another year in South Louisiana where we spent the majority of Football season with nothing to really play for past October.

Did I lose faith? To a certain extent, yes I did. A lot of people did. With good reason.

Did I stop watching? Hell no, I'm a glutton for punishment and bad football is still a hell of a lot better that spending my fall weekend doing something else. To my great surprise we have run off 7 straight and have looked like a completely different team than any that we have had previous with Sean Payton. And i couldn't be happier
