no problem with this if it’s confirmed bruised

thought it was just a precaution after a knee hit

I think this one is actually just a realization that he needs to get in shape in order to not actually get hurt for real.

Injury Update:

David Griffin announced today that Zion Williamson, who left last night’s game against the New York Knicks with a bruised left knee, will not participate in the remainder of the NBA Summer League.

“Zion will move forward from this incident without issue,” said Griffin. “However, in an abundance of caution, we have made the determination that he will not appear in game action for the remainder of the NBA Summer League. He will continue to take part in training and conditioning with our performance team.”

It's a bummer for fans, but it's understandable. And we got to see him in action in a Pels uniform. And Zion "proved that he belonged out there," as he put it last night.

I agree with this.

Also don't want him to hurt other teams' players by dunking on them too hard.

I warned last night in the game thread.

It's summer league, this is not important enough to take even a minor risk with a #1 draft pick.

I thought maybe they would play him limited minutes one more game, but it wouldn't shock me if that was all. Looks like it is.

No amount of conditioning will prevent him from bumping knees.

I agree he needs to get his conditioning in check, but last night was just one of those fluke basketball things that happen in a game where players are in close contact with one another.

If this was the regular season he would have still logged 30 minutes and played the next night.

I don’t think the knee bump is a real injury. Just an excuse to prevent him from hurting himself due to being out of shape. Just my speculation

At least we should get to see Hayes and NAW in action tonight

Definitely seems that way. shite Griffin literally said in the statement that he was still going to practice with the summer league team.

Agreed. It's dumb to have top draft picks play there anyway.

I don't think you understand what precautionary means.

I think it’s more about getting him in shape than anything. You can tell he doesn’t seem like he’s in game shape yet.
