It still doesn't justify Ayton's money. I think Ayton would be a great fit here. He's the center that everyone imagines Myles Turner would be here. But he's making CJ money. Part of keeping this train rolling involves CJ either leaving or getting a big paycut and smaller role as he ages. Ayton is young enough you'd be locking in that 3rd maxish salary long term, and none of your max players will be a guard.

I'm not saying it can't work, but it feels like you're locking into something very unlikely to work, like Minnesota trading all the picks for Gobert.

Ayton is a high end role player getting paid like he's a star. He has great tools and skills but you can never rely on him to carry your team to wins. That's the biggest issue with a guy like that.

Yea every team would love to have a guy like him but at the cost he commands and is getting paid, it's a bad investment.

It's a guard and wing league. We're already bucking the trend with Zion being the guy. The best players on the last 5 title teams have been guards or wings that can handle the rock. I'm good. Ayton can stay in phx. I think he's a little too soft between the ears.

Rewatch our Playoff Series as he ran off every Center on our team.

Ok. Now look at the at the rest of his playoff numbers in his career. Better yet, look at the last 8 games when Booker was out. He's a role players with elite skills. He doesn't have the mentality to dominate like a max guy.

At the same being disgruntled doesnt exactly bring the best out of you. There are signifanct arguments to be made he would be better with Willie.

Maybe but still would be a role player with this team. Willie came from the same coaching tree. And Monty had no issues utilizing Davis as well.

You can't change a guys mentality. Either he has the drive or he doesn't.

Or watch Game 7 when they lost by 70 to a shitty Dallas team and he didn't do dick.

None. They're all cheap except for cj and B.I.

We need depth as much as possible right now too
