We've spent months talking about moving fringe pieces around and our 3rd big.

None of that shite matters if BI and Z can't stay healthy.

If anything we should be more inclined to do that since its clear we'll need quality depth with those 2 missing 30+ games a year.

Its the all in trade for a star using the young guys and picks that we cant do since we cant rely on them to be healthy and we would destroy our depth to get that other star

Time for the NBA to consider reducing the number of games played per season. Maybe 60 games per year?

There should be no more b2b's and no more 3 games in 4 nights (with or without travel). The NBA's scheduling is just inviting injuries to occur.

Dude's anatomy is a blessing and a curse for basketball, he bullies his way around the court but it just wrecks his lower body with all that weight shifting and hammering down

he's going to be riddled with injuries for a large portion of his career unfortunately, it's just the nature of his build

This!
Love Zion . Incredibly agile for his size.
His youth will allow him to play for a while , but the injuries will mount until he is unable to play if he doesn't change his weight a little. 20-30 pounds might be enough?

Yeah I just saw that. Not good.

A month = 120 to 180 days. Another busted season in progress.
And when is BI coming back from that 2 game stubbed toe again???

Oof

Honestly, Ms. Benson is going to have to go into the luxury tax just to keep this team competitive if the idea is to keep building around Zion/Bi.

They simply are not consistently healthy enough to not pair them with a super deep roster.

I am getting a lot of PTSD with the Jrue/Dais era. Where it took them most of their time here to finally get healthy enough to play games together without restrictions, and even then Davis being a bitch meant he'd miss 20 games still.

Yeah at least a month for zion means we won’t see him till March. We’ll need BI back soon if we want to keep a top 6 seed

I wouldn’t hit the panic about them being injury prone just yet. If something similar happens next year, it’s probably warranted.

Even so, I do think we should make a trade. Can’t waste an opportunity

This kind of thinking is just fricking stupid. At least a month and so you speculate to it being two months? It’s more likely it will take 3 weeks to heal and a week and a half to ramp him up.

Zion was supposed to be ready for the season opener last year. BI was only supposed to miss a couple games with the toe. We've seen it time and time again with this FO that they're going to be cautious to a fault. Bookmark this. you're looking at 6 weeks absolute minimum for zion to come back

You are probably right, but after watching our medical staff the last 2 years you can't blame someone for being pessimistic on the time frame. Knowing Nelson he said a month to heal then will hold Zion out a month to condition. Especially if Woj is right and it isn't a mild sprain, I would bet closer to 2 months than 1 month.

Not panicking, just being realistic.

A lot of teams make their next pivot at this stage to consolidating assets into a tighter but stronger rotation.

With the way BI and Zion are, I don't really think we can do that. But we also have guys like Trey/Herb/Nance/Dyson/CJ/Jonas/Wemby that will need raises, and I think IF Benson was honest in saying she would go into the tax for a contender, she's gonna have to do it to keep the roster as deep as possible cause BI/Zion missing 20+ games is at this point the norm, not the exception. And CJ is no spring chicken either.

I just don't think he's good enough to warrant that much money.

Maybe if he was all in and committed but he's still butting heads with Monty and I really don't like some of the things I've read about his all night gaming, diet, etc.

Not gonna go to the mat defending my speculation, cause its only that, pure speculation, but I think Ayton would do a lot better here than Phoenix.

Our culture seems to be built more around camaraderie, friendship, positive reinforcement, and healthy competition, with guys mostly around Ayton's age, and thru that there is accountability and buy-in.

Phoenix feels like a typical CP3 team at this point. Lots of I'm the leader, top-down, slightly clicky and cocky vet-led, do-your-job team. One that would more likely try to bully Ayton into compliance instead of helping lift him up. Has never felt like that is Ayton's comfort zone.
