He has to work for everything, not enough easy shots/lobs. The big to big passing isn't strong right now. When a player fronts him, a big flashes to the foul line and that should be an easy lob for 2.

CJ also needs to find him for easier shots. A couple times on semi-fast breaks Zion had an angle and CJ didn't deliver.
This is in no way, shape or form saying we made a bad decision to let him go but good passes for easy looks for Zion is a spot where Zo is missed. We don't have anyone with his passing ability on the team.

Name one thing he has improved since coming into the league.

his injuries were so he could not practice jumpers.
not catch and shoot jumper from corner over defender.
not the TD-requested little 7 to 15 feet jumpers.
nope. walking. running.
very basic.
inference. => he does not execute jumpers therefore he must not have learned and practiced during his recoveries. I expect him to learn the mechanics next off season if not before. same as FT comment. one hopes anyway.

Agree 100%. Didn't want to keep Zo but he got Zion easy shots. So far Devonte has actually gotten Zion his easiest looks.

He scored 27 points on 11-21 shooting with 7 assists. That's pretty damn good for an "off night." His stat line would have been been even better had he not been in foul trouble.

You're 100% correct that this is good for an off night because that's how good Zion is, but that IS an off night by Zion's standards.

Zion averaged 27 points last season on 17 shots, so that's 4 shots less efficiency comparably.

Theres a reason we went on a run in the jazz game and in this game when he was on the bench.

So we are just going to ignore how zion scored like 8 straight points in the 4th to keep us in the game?

True, if we had played better in the first half and not be lazy with the passes/turnovers we wouldn't have been down by 16pts. There were alot of factors in the loss. Also all the missed open 3pt shots were unusual for this team. CJ mentioned his index finger was bothering him. With BI and Herb playing this is a no contest. People don't need to overeact. Z is fine but he does need to develop a mid jumper or floater.

The Ringer just did an article about Zions defense.

We really need to stop feeding him in the post so much and have more of his touches come at the top of the key and let him get a head of steam.

As stated before, he should be the second option on the floor, & play garbage man a la Moses and Barkley when BI and CJ are cooking.

CJ does the same thing every game. Each game he shoots 27 times and make 6. Watch next game.

CJ never delivers to the open man. He wants to be Batman but it will never happen. He is just not that guy.

Find the open guy and stop dancing with the ball.

people keep saying this.
he missed out on learning due to coming off ankle which was coming off broken bone. maybe this summer.
two different moves.
floater will be easier for him.
the jumper requires a lot more understanding of the physics of his body in movement. and touch.
a lot of nuance.
similar to ft. he's a bad ft shooter too.

Yes his shooting is down this year but he’s a career 46% shooter. He shot nearly 50% for us last season.

Your point is valid, but there are shooting mechanics drills that don't require actual shooting.

One is to lay on your back and "shoot" the ball straight up in the air then catch and repeat...stuff like that is still helpful during lower body injuries.

He needs to shoot 1,000 free throws a day.

For two reasons

1 - he will soon begin getting the calls and if he shot 80% he would an MVP candidate.

2 - teams are giving him that shot every game

I can appreciate that Zion can go get 20 anytime he wants while also pointing out how much more deadly he would be with a consistent jump shot.

nice read
LINK

and what they basically say is what a lot on here have said, he shows a lack of giving a shite on defense far too often.
They show clips of him being a good defender and giving the effort, so you know he can do it, but more often than not, his defensive woes are him just being lazy.
And i say he's being lazy b/c he's tired and he's taking breaks on defense, b/c he's not in game shape.

He's almost never in a iso defensive posture, knees bent hands in position, etc.

He's straight up with his hands down. I don't get it.

I'm not saying game shape/fatigue isn't part of it, but he's doing that from the 1st possession of the game and all the way through for the most part.

Do you think maybe he doesn't want to appear to be really trying, and get embarrassed?
I know that sounds stupid, but there could be some truth to it.

I don't get it either. For how big he is, he is extremely nimble and quick. Bend your damn knees, get your butt down and your chest up. It's not that hard. Give them a little extra room and let them take jump shots over you, just don't let them drive right by you with ease.
