Again I don’t think we would be trading specifically for his defense but saying hes just a chucker offensively is silly. Hes playing at a high level offensively this year and contract is really reasonable as well. The goal would be pairing Vuc with Missi for only a year or two. Below are his stats through 10 games:
“The difference in 2024-25 is Vucevic's efficiency: His field goal percentage of 58.5 is second among centers who average at least 10 attempts per game; his 47.7 percent 3-point shooting ranks fourth; and his 88.0 percent free-throw percentage is sixth.”
Its the best season so far in his 14 year career- granted its early and the stats were shown through only 10 games but he had another solid game last night.

He’s shot 32% from 3 the last 3 years. He’s 34 years old. He still has another year left at $20M. He’s a horrible defender. He’s a great rebounder.
I’d want a first round pick just to take him.
And I don’t want him taking minutes from Missi.

So we’re just ignoring what hes doing this year- ok. Hes basically an expiring next year. Missi is not going to play 40 minutes and Vuc provides a completely different dimension. We lack in rebounding, 3 pt shooting and spacers- he provides you all that plus the hope is they would include someone else for salary purposes and draft pick for Zion. Hes just a stop gap center- honestly his age doesn’t matter.
I get you don’t like him but hes playing elite offensively this year and is having a career year. I don’t think you can just completely ignore that.

If only Patrick Williams injury concerns weren't as equally horid, I'd say vuc, Williams, and multiple firsts for zion and id do it in a heartbeat.

Have you seen the video. What GM looks at that and agrees to multiple first ?
Plenty of gms would trade for zion.

The advanced stats say that Vuc is by far the worst rim protecting C in the league this year. I know it’s early and small sample size, but he hasn’t been able to protect the rim in years, so this is probably not an outlier
So why would the pels want him?
Could've just kept valancuinas

I would have kept Val. But hes a much better offensive player than Val. Especially with his outside shooting.

They would. Just depends what they would give up. And I can promise you most of us won’t like the offers we hear. If fans are looking to get some crazy big offer for Zion- that won’t happen.

Seems like his defense has been better this year and I thought KAT was the worst rim protecting C in the league.
Vuc is on the floor, the bulls allow 23.1 fga in the restricted area and players shoot 71.9% on Vuc in those situations. Both of those numbers are worst in the league among Cs that play more than mop-up minutes.
Again, it’s a small sample size this early in the year, as some other good defensive Cs are struggling to start the year too. The difference is Vuc hasn’t been a decent defender in years.
Obviously everyone understands the frustration with Zion, but Vuc is nowhere near the answer

This is what the problem is going to be. Fans want an “answer” for Zion. A 2 way talented big man and more (picks, young players) for a trade. Thats just not going to happen. Reality is the trade won’t be that great and fans will complain. Or we keep him for 2 more years and we go through same hell that we have for the past 6 years.
I get not wanting Vuc- to me hes just a stop gap center- not some franchise building block. The goal would be the draft picks honestly. But what are some realistic expectations for a Zion trade?
And those who say oh wait till he gets back and builds up his value- if he returns and plays decent- Griff aint trading him- hes all about value (see BI). And again we’re back where we started. Again better to cut your losses sometimes and move on- not always about waiting and maximizing value.

If vucevic was an expiring id say maybe.
He’s been an inefficient checker for a long time, as well as a terrible defender. I don’t care what he’s done in 10 games. I know who that 34 year old is, and I don’t want him.

Explore every option for Zion and take the best offer. Don't focus on one player or pick, unload him for the best offer.
Figure out how it fits after

This isn't about this year. We have to move on from Zion if we are serious about winning, because he is not.

I understand this sentiment, but to be fair that’s not what you said in your first post. You made it sound like Vuc was the target and picks were the sweetener. Vuc and his contract is bad enough that they’d need to attach picks to move him. I disagree with any argument that Vuc could help us, he’s a negative value at his contract.
As much as I am over man-child weeboo Zion, moving him for Vuc and maybe their first rounder this year and in 27 is not worth it

Yeah thats fair in regards to my first post - I still think he could help us this year- especially knowing fat boy likely wont be back. I think Bulls will be bad this year and maybe for the foreseeable future- those picks could be potential lottery picks. This year’s draft is pretty deep as well.
Again how much do you expect another team to give us for Zion? A vet center (probably another player due to salary matching) and 2 potential lottery picks- thats not enough? I doubt if you add up the value you’ll get more than that for Zion. Frankly Im not even sure Bulls would offer that. We have to let go of this inflated value for Zion- its just not there. Otherwise we just keep him and continue torturing ourselves.

I think you were correct to target Chicago, a team with inconsistent leadership and maybe hungry for some buzz. Short-selling their future is a good idea, my only point is Vuc is strictly salary filler that would require us to take more if he’s included.
If Vic is included, then it would take something like Vuc, Buzelis, 2 firsts, and a swap before I’m even picking up the phone call

Gotchya. Thats a really good trade but I think they love Buzelis(hometown kid) but I would be ecastic if Griff could pull that off.

His shooting percentages and scoring are all improved plus you’re technically pairing him with Missi to get offense so I don’t think its that bad. But we can just sit here and wait for fat boys hamstrings to heal while he eats pasta and gets some more tattoos
Not sure why you trying to die on this hill. Hes a negative value and old. Has no place on this team. There’s tons of other players I’d take a chance on instead of a guy with one foot through the retirement door….

Im not dying on a hill relax. If anything this thread has shown people have unrealistic expectations on a Zion trade despite everything hes put us through. People will be disappointed no matter what the trade is. Personally, I’ll be happy that we moved on from Zion.

I don’t think you understand that most people would probably rather just cut Zion than make a trade for an aging 5 that’s not expiring.
If vucevic was an expiring, I’d be more inclined to have interest in a trade for him. I don’t want his contract on this team next year.
