Zach Lowe on the Pels "this almost isn't basketball anymore...No one comes out unscathed."

Zion Williamson as lone big man: 48 minutes, plus-19
This is the "Are you not entertained?" of NBA lineups. No one comes out unscathed. Bodies and limbs move so fast, you can't really tell what is happening.
New Orleans has averaged 111 possessions per 48 minutes with these groups on the floor, so much faster than the fastest team ever that this almost isn't basketball anymore. The most common such group -- Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and Williamson -- features five players who can grab-and-go. (Note: I am not counting lineups featuring Williamson and Nicolo Melli.)
Good luck to anyone trying to stop Williamson once he gathers momentum:

It’s sad how radical Zach Lowe’s wife is. I have trouble taking him seriously when his wife hates America.

Virtue signalling!

america was great then?
yeah sure, america is #1.
most nuclear weapons.
it takes a special man to be unable to evaluate a statement about sports because you have an opinion about his wife.
take your crap to the poli board where only Republicans love God.

What a moronic argument. Christ...

Pretty much every thread that isn’t on the Music Board has moronic arguments in it that sound like conspiracy theory level paranoia and stupidity. It’s amusing the level of self-awareness that’s lacking around here, especially when people point at equally ridiculous arguments and make fun of them.
People actually believe:
- Racism doesn’t exist
- income inequality isn’t the major problem, Black people are
- mask wearing is some gateway to the US government controlling all of us
- covid is a hoax
So forgive CelticDog for pointing out how dumb and ignorant it is to blame Zach Lowe for his wife’s opinions. People fall in love with people much different than them all the time. And good hearted people don’t try to force their opinions on loved ones and censor them.
Both parties suck. Neither address the actual problems happening around the country that fall under their umbrella. Re-election is the only goal.
People need to quit being told what to think by politicians and media that, quite frankly, don’t give two shits about them despite it being their sworn duty and job. Get their head out of their arse and be nicer human beings to each other. Cause no one ever wins an argument by shouting over each other with such anger.

Many folks have lost all sense of rationality.

I've said it a few times but politicians should be bending the knee to us, but instead we worship politicians who don't give 2 shits about any of us. It's wild.

Again i could argue the validity of every single thing you are asserting here. Easily. Not a single one of those is as simple as you stated nor do most of the people you are referring to believe a non-nuanced version of that. They are all strawman positions.

I dont have a problem with that. Thats not all his post said. In fact, thats not what 90% of his post said.

This is such a lazy thing people who are too "above it all" say so they dont have to actually form an educated opinion. Heroine and M&Ms are both bad for you.

People need to start being able to discern between good and bad ideas, regardless of who they heard them from. This is another "i dont feel like weeding through all the information so im going to say that everything sucks equally across the board and judge someone who took the time to form thoughts selectively"
All that being said Sir Winston is a cartoon character.
Go Pels.

Do you think I don’t have opinions on what’s going on? I just know that voicing them on Pelicans Talk is not the place or time for them.

For one, this site is pretty one sided. Not really the place for ideal discussion in any situation.
For two, finding that information isn’t always easy. I listened to a This American Life podcast that just followed this guy trying to form an “immigration opinion” at a Town Hall. This dude looked everywhere to try to find facts that weren’t biased, spent countless hours trying to find it, and came up empty. He eventually settled on “No” because he couldn’t come up with an opinion based on facts and it busted him up inside. They had to bring on PhD professors from Germany among other experts in this country to get him the answers he was looking for.
So no, it is not lazy to say that the media sucks as well. People who watch CNN can’t name one thing Trump has done right in 4 years. People who watch Fox News buy into the hysteria. It’s a joke.
For three, you’ve already made up your mind about me, so why would I even bother debating with you when you’ve already come up with who I am before even discussing any actual topics you’re referring to me. The other people who weren’t you understood what I was saying pretty clearly, so maybe you aren’t as superior as your post comes off.
The point of the post was to point out absurd this all is, and ideally and most importantly, keep the hysteria out of Pels Talk threads that have nothing to do with it. Cause it’s miserable to read almost any board on this site right now. Can we please just turn this place into “not miserable”?
I have faith Pels Talk is smart enough to figure out that we can keep Pels related politics in Political Pels threads, because they will be a storyline this season. I know most of the posters here from being here awhile.
This board at least, has the capability of discussing an extremely exciting time for Pels fans and be able to separate basketball and politics. There are nice people all over the place and I’ve met some of them, and they’re even nicer in person. Let’s talk some hoops and band together to make sure we have a place to talk about this awesome young team without every thread getting derailed 3 posts in.
GEAUX PELS!!
ETA: TLDR I wouldn’t have typed that on any other board, but I think this board is capable of rising above inserting stupidity into every basketball related thread. Let’s hit our potential so we can enjoy the restart and talk about it.

Good post. I post in here a lot, and many of you will have guessed from my username that I have a strong interest in politics (though I picked my name in 2005 and some of my views have changed in the last 15 years). But I don't make political posts on this board because it's selfish and doesn't serve the board, and also because I come here to Pels Talk to enjoy a break from the messed-up world that we live in.
That's what sports should be, ideally. I know that, at some point, things get too messed up for sports figures to stay away from politics -- it's too personal to ignore. And so, "stick to sports" is inappropriate right now, because players have to speak out and that has to spill over onto this board as well.
I pray for healing in our society to get us to the place where sports can again be a diversion from the difficulties of life. In the meantime, I would say that we should regard the different political and cultural opinions (and even the ignorance) of others with patience and understanding.

Approve. Even Pels players are speaking up. We can figure out I think how to discuss the politics in those threads and the actual basketball in the actual basketball threads, because both topics do rightfully exist on the board. It’s not a hard concept. Enough people just have to buy in to hold other posters accountable. We got less than two weeks to turn this bad boy around. We can do it.
