exactly!!!!! finally, someone gets it....

and let's be honest and play the tape back... if there's one thing that he HAS been consistent with, it's injuries, so there's a very above average chance that he'll be injured for some amount of time again next season, so realistically there's a very above average chance his trade value goes down even further than now.... that's why we almost have to trade him now... and with the CJ quotes, it certainly has a feel that the players would be ok with a change as well... anything to get guys that will be a part of the team and on the same page as them

wut?

they look terrible in this situation, what are you talking about?

we went from 1st in the West to losing out in the play in tourney... we allowed our best player to just sit and not participate, and to dictate to our franchise how this shite was gonna go... yeah, the Pels look plenty bad, just as Zion does...

Pels can't force him to play. But they can say he's medically cleared and he's choosing not to play.

What more can the org do? Fine him for not playing?

You aren't winning squat with him, because he never plays. Only way you can rationalize what happened over the last week is that he does want out of NO, and that windmill dunk was his way of letting potential trade partners know that he's ok. That windmill dunk was a huge FU to the players on the team that have been having to play injured and deal with his childish crap. Good fing riddance to him.

With Zion, BI, and a healthy cJ we were 15-10

Without Zion we were 27-30

Played most of those games without BI at all, and a lot with 2 injuries to CJ’s shoulder and thumb—pretty significant injuries for a player who is only in the league because he can shoot. And I think we really missed Jose’s fire down the stretch as much as his production. There’s not another guy like him on this team that brings that contagious confidence.

Obviously, a healthy Zion (oxymoron) makes the team much better. But there were a lot of other factors that contributed to the wins when he was on the court and losses when he was not then the way you couched the beginning of your point.

quote:

So the question is what do you besides pray Zion stays healthy?

Nothing. You absolutely can’t trade him, and it doesn’t appear he’s motivated by whatever benchmarks the Pels have put in place to help him stay on track physically. It’s not a great precedent to set, especially for someone you’ve invested so much money and other countless resources into, but what they’re doing isn’t working, so maybe you back off of him. Let him do his own thing and come in out of shape, looking fat, and getting blasted by not only New Orleans fans, but national media too. Hopefully he gets embarrassed, and that’s the spark he needs to decide HE wants to do what it takes to be great. It’s not gonna happen with the proverbial gun to his head. He’ll resent it and fight it.

The ONLY way he does what it takes to get in—and keep—his body in shape for an NBA regular season and playoff run is when he’s had enough and decides he wants to. Or better yet, HAS to.

quote:

Healthy Zion makes us an top 4 team Jn the west.

Sure, if that “healthy Zion” plays 60+ games a season along with a healthy BI, CJ, Tre, Herb, etc…

quote:

Without him we weren’t a fringe payoff team we were a miss the play in games level team who had an enough wins to barely get in.

You are leaving out a lot of other variables here. You’re positioning it like:

Healthy Zion = top 4 team in the West

No Zion = 9th place team in the West.

And there’s just too many other factors to simplify it like that.

1000% keep him. I’m pretty sure we both agree wholeheartedly on this. There’s really no other option right now. All this talk about trading him is silly. People are still in their feels after last night—and rightfully so—but the hurt, anger, frustration, irrationalism, will eventually subside, and we’ll try to run it back.

That is easily worth the risk for a dude of this talent.

You can't trade him this offseason at his lowest value, that would be malfeasance by the FO.

Griff said Zion has not been medically cleared to practice.

I could be wrong, but I highly doubt that is something you can lie about if he has been.

43 cents on the dollar is better than the 3 cents he’s worth every season.

after seeing he's actually healthy, why not? you may have to part with one of those 1st or a boat load of 2nds, or add another player with it, but you can unload him and still get a nice return...

shite, literally ANYONE is an upgrade over a guy who ain't on the fricking floor...

People try to make this take every year and act like they are cerebral for doing so. Meanwhile, Zion gets hurt every year and continues to lose more and more value.

He has completely derailed 4 out of 4 seasons with injuries.

When is enough going to be enough?

I honestly think 15-20 teams would be interested and there would be a bidding war of sorts bc other franchises probably think our front office is ran by retards and that they can do better with Zion.

We could get a very good package for him right now and it’s probably wise to trade him as soon as possible before he gets a real injury in the offseason.

This is factually incorrect.

It was 3 out of 4.

Zion and Ingram both got injured in SVG’s season when the play in’s were still very in reach. In fact, even without them, had we won like 2 of the games we choked down the stretch in, the last game would’ve been win and you are in the play in.

So technically 4 out of 4. The common issue with his injuries are playstyle. Breaking your thumb while bulldozing to the rim and trying a rebound putback is more likely to happen to Zion than 95% of the players in the nba.

So even if this guy’s soft tissues hold up, you still have the physicality risk from taking 20 hits a game at the rim. Which, he ultimately was not able to survive at the end of that season.

Notice the body language when he left the court to walk back to the locker room?
Griffin would not even look at, let alone acknowledge, Zion as he walked right by him.

I noticed that. They both appeared to completely ignore each other. It was pretty icy.
