that’s if there’s still buzz for pelicans basketball. This injury is gonna take a hit on the hype for the season in this city.

Would make sense. But I'll wait for someone that I trust more

What is a "strained" meniscus? I've literally never heard of that. It is usually either torn or it isn't.

If this goes into the 15-20 games missed territory, it threatens to put a damper on the rest of the season, even when he comes back if we get of to a bad start

It blows that we're going to get less zion, but looking at the first 20 games, .500 was going to be difficult as frick even with perfect health. Something like 13 of our first 20 are against conference finals contenders.

This 100% sucks, but I just don't see our starting record being THAT much worse than it was already going to be.

The rare injury for someone who’s a freak athletically but still overweight

He'll be fine eventually but dang it's disheartening to already see any knee issue. The guy is huge and puts a ton of weight/pressure on those knees doing all the amazing things he does. Seems hard to keep such a uniquely built and athletic guy from getting certain types of injuries, so praise Jesus we paid for a professional, cutting edge athletic trainer to hopefully keep ahead of potential future problems.

Apparently it's a thing

From Chris Haynes

New Orleans rookie Zion Williamson will undergo further evaluations on right knee today and possibly tomorrow, but the organization is relieved the forward has avoided any major longterm issues, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Never heard of straining a meniscus. I wonder if he means MCL.

I mean wouldn't something have to strain before it tears?

I was just looking at that same link.

Nowhere in the text does it describe the difference between the 2, literally every time it says "strain" it is used in saying "tear or strain"

My thoughts exactly. The team will just need to be resilient. This is a huge reason why we signed Redick and traded for Favors. Gotta lead the locker room along with Jrue

Thankfully it isn't serious, but this still fricking blows.

If he played for the 76ers, his expected return date would be 2021.

I read that but I can't find much on specifically a strain.

All I can find is that it can get better with ice and elevation, and takes a few weeks.

According to Stephen A, Nike wants him to lose weight during this period. Though I would expect the Pels would have more influence than Nike over his physical condition.

...and meniscus strain is apparently a real thing.

Yeah.

I also don't like the "undergoing further tests". An MRI would tell you immediately if it was torn or not.
