The Lakers have made Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and the No. 4 pick in the June 20 draft available in trade talks with the Pelicans, league sources say. New Orleans has made it known it hope to assemble a three-teams-or-more deal before surrendering Anthony Davis

- ....If AD goes to Boston, goes to NY, goes anywhere but the Lakers this offseason, that's probably it. As Lebron is numero uno, and the Lakers are still going to have to go all out to put talent around an ever impatient 35-year-old Lebron. No way they can go another season with one year deals and the youngsters he has demoralized. Moves will get made. Which means, AD to the Lakers becomes a trickier possibility once they trade away Ingram/Ball/Kuzma and draft picks to bring in a Beal or Chris Paul type player and likely fill out their cap space with role players in the process.

- Ainge probably deduces this as well(it seems obvious the Lakers are desperate and will not stand idle). Ainge knows the Lakers are going to find a way to spend money to appease Lebron. AD and Paul know this as the likely result as well. And in doing so that will very likely box out AD's ability to even walk to LA in FA without giving up an enormous amount of money. Which means the risk for Ainge is actually less risky than the pundit's project.

- Furthermore, rumors are Ainge is offering Kyrie a max with a trade request option to appease his concerns. Sounds very likely what he would do for AD as well. And suddenly keeping in play for AD makes a lot of sense for Boston.

He's been subtlely saying things like this all season.

He and Brown actually seem like they would embrace the chance to get out of Boston's gravity and go be focal points in a place like NOLA.

Which is the opposite of the culture we put around AD with Gordon and Evans. They are the exact type of player we need around Zion and to help set the tone with Jrue. Just hard blue collar guys that have modest egos by NBA standards, high ceilings, and seem like good lockerroom guys.

Just to be clear, if Boston trades us Tatum, who else has to be involved in it at a mininum?

AD has an incoming salary of $27.1M assuming no trade kicker, which i would imagine he's going to make sure he enforces if he's not going to the Lakers, so then his incoming salary is $31.1M, which means the Celtics have to send out $25M in salaries. This is the part i'm not sure of. Seems like we, the Pelicans, have to pay him that $4M as a bonus for trading him, but not sure if that becomes part of his incoming salary to the Celtics for trading purposes.

Tatum/Smart is right at $20M
Yabusele is $3.1M
Williams is $1.9M

the draft picks don't count in trade salaries unless they have signed their contract, which they will not have done.

Is what i said correct? If so, they can't send out Brown without Tatum unless Hayward is going out as well b/c they simply don't have the salaries to make it work.
Brown is $6.5M

They also have Baynes that they can include who opted in today. I think his salary is 5.9 mil.

Never underestimate Ainge wanting to make this more difficult/costly for the Lakers.

i didn't know he opted in. Seems kind of dumb on his part with all the cap space out there and KD likely not going anywhere. I kind of figured he wasn't going to opt in.
I'd love to get Baynes.

Apparently Ainge promised him he wouldn't be part of a trade.

I posted this in another thread because I can't keep them straight.

I've seen a couple of posters use the Wiz as a 3rd team with the Pels acquiring Beal. Is this possible within the framework of a deal with LAL involving Ingram, Ball and the #4?

If so, would this be better than a BOS package that inluded Tatum, Brown/Smart and future picks?

IMO, as long as any deal that includes Beal is reasonably close, you go with the deal for Beal. What 'reasonably close' constitutes is debatable. Beal is a proven all-star, you can't say the same for any of the other names being mentioned in the Celtics or Lakers deals.
