So basically the Pelicans got a bunch of first round picks for Davis because all 3 of those players suck. The Lakers can keep them!
Ingram is okay, but yeah you're right. Pelicans traded a top 5 NBA talent for scrubs and picks that are no guarantee. Anyone who thinks this was a good trade is a moron.

D’Angelo Russell also sucked when he played for the Lakers. He was also a top 2 pick and 21 years old when he was traded.
Now he’s an All Star. Will the same thing happen with Ball and Ingram? Probably not, but it’s likely they’ll both be good players moving forward.

Um, no he didnt. Dude was at least a league average player by his 2nd season. 15.3 PER, 15+ ppg.

stop looking at this trade in a vacuum
there almost HAS to be other moves that come b/c of this trade
picks & assets are how you build dynasties... and the Pelicans have plenty of that now
I said it last night and I'll say it again today... this is the Pelicans 'Cowboys trade Herschel Walker' moment

So we should have A.) got nothing in return for Davis when he leaves in FA next year or B.) should have traded him for Brown, Smart and a late 2019 draft pick?
What other options did we have?

This may possibly be a good move in the long run IF they get very lucky. Guessing what unproven college players turn out to be is a big gamble. Only time will tell but right now I hate it.

you can turn picks into more than "unproven college players"

..but will they? I know they have more moves to make just hope they get some proven talent at some point.

Golden State built their dynasty off of draft picks. I much rather that strategy because it sets you up for potential long term success, as oppose to this recent trend of trying to assemble a super team with Max contracts. NOLA is incapable of that anyway with our market.

You acting like this is still Demps in charge of all these picks.
He gone.
He gone.

Sounds like 8, 17, and Nets 2020 first for 4 and 39 (plus maybe a Wiz 2nd) is one of the deals that will be offered.

39s OK but not one of the wiz 2nds

I feel like we’re giving away a dollar for a quarter and 3 dimes

I feel like it's 5 quarters and 2 dimes.
Quarters: Ingram and Ball and quality NBA starters with potential to develop into all-stars. The #4 pick has lots of value. The 2021 or 2022 pick will either be a top 8 player or will be in the 2022 "double draft," where even later picks will have value. The 2024 pick can be pushed back a year if we don't like the slot.
Dimes: Hart is a quality backup at a good salary. The 2023 pick swap means another opportunity to get a good pick.

Again, what do you think they should have done? Live in the now, not this fantasy world you built in NBA2K.
