A better question is what can they do to make the home crowds better.

It just seems like there is a disconnect with fans and the franchise. Not meaning to bring the whole Monty situation up again, but him and his family were booed at home (in a playoff season). The fans tried to start the same thing with Gentry this year. Some fans are still calling for Dell and Gentry's heads. Wasn't Boogie heckled at home this year? I'm sure many of you excuse that, like the 1865 comments on this board. Does anything interest this fan base but firing coaches? Maybe it's a lynch-mob mentality, as winning doesn't seem to matter.

I’m curious, what city do you think the team would be more successful in? What is your solution?

Or are you just being condescending toward the city and it’s fans (“rednecks”) to make you feel better about yourself?

I already gave three suggestions: Seattle, Louisville, Norfolk. Read before you question idiot. I feel great about myself, talking about rednecks don't make me feel better. That's a redneck tendency (putting down others because of their personal shortcomings).

To say there isn’t shite to do in Orlando is just a bit silly. If there isn’t shite to do in Orlando, then there isn’t shite to do outside of the 5-6 biggest markets.

I was putting you down because your ignorant and ask stupid questions. By your thinking that makes me a redneck. OK.

I'm a troll now, because I state the obvious. I'm a troll because you have crappy team support. I'm a troll because you can't sell out a home game in a small arena (even if the team is successful). I'm a troll for saying support the team. Well, you need to listen to this troll.

So you were putting me down because of my personal shortcomings (ignorance)? You already let me know that’s a redneck tendency.

By YOUR thinking, that makes YOU a redneck.

His family was not booed, he just didn't want them to hear him being booed. Also, I really don't think heckling fans is something unique to NOLA.

in a playoff season).

They were a .500 team much of the season with a bunch of frustrating losses to bad teams they should have beaten. Replacing F players with D+ - C- players was just enough of a boost to break .500 and sneak into the playoffs on the last day. So it's not like he was being booed during an obviously strong season.

Winning does matter. Most people have put down their torches and pitch forks...for now. Heaven help Demps and Gentry if they miss the playoffs even with say 45 wins.

The unknown positive potential of a new coach is almost as tantalizing as those magical draft picks everyone obsesses over. Just like with draft picks people assume the best, and with a coach like Gentry that the overwhelming majority were against hiring in the first place, it's really easy to adopt a "anything has to be better than this" mentality. Unfortunately as this franchise has shown time and again, things can indeed get worse and people are wrong to assume any average coach would actually get better results.

So a city that lost a team because they couldn’t build a viable facility, a city with more rednecks than New Orleans, and an area with no pro sports teams to base support upon.

Lots of thought you put into that

There's a reason the team plays better on the road than at home.

Last year we were considerably better at home vs on the road. Do you think anything has changed about the venue, the attendance, or the fans since last season? Same thing with the season before? Or the season before that?

Or you could admit that the home-road split this year is just an anomaly, but that would not fit your troll narrative.

Exactly, you put no thought into it. You pulled it off the internet. Even though those locations lack in the criteria you established.

So again, the point of this thread was to bash New Orleans.

One other thing I think you're not taking into consideration with this fanbase is the last 2 times they started to buy in the rug got pulled out from beneath them.

That magical 07-08 season where the CP3 Hornets looked like a team on the rise, but injuries made it sputter and lead to a rebuild. Then just as soon as rebuilding around AD got them into the playoffs, they fire the coach, change directions with the roster and go from what should have been a rising playoff team to 2 lost years.

You can blame swamp water, rednecks and whatever negative stereotype you want, but this team has been up and down enough that the fan base understandably has trust issues.

And that's not even considering the Katrina issues where the team actually moved away temporarily.

We can talk about attendance issues all we want, but a winner in New Orleans will be supported. They've proven that already with this team. Pelicans fans are better fans than nearly half of the league concerning loyalty.

That said, the bigger issue (to me anyway) is pretty big group of folks in and out of New Orleans who make it a habit of talking about how much they hate the NBA and don't watch the Pelicans. These people are the funniest because they think that they are within the majority of people with their thoughts. Albeit, they may actually be in our community, but attendance and popularity growth of the NBA (and basketball in general) is rapidly growing. I personally feel that a lot of these people have an ulterior motive, but I'll leave that for another board.

I put thought into it. I went and found an article to support what I said, once somebody acted like these cities were ridiculous choices.

You're correct, my point was to bash New Orleans. I want them to support the team, sell out some games. This playoff race is tight in the West, the team needs any advantage it can get. Playing in front of a pumped, full crowd will help the team. If I troll anyone into supporting the team, so be it.

I have always wanted to see the Pels play live in New Orleans, I have went to several of their games in Indiana. I almost came this year, but we were playing the Pacers during Mardi Gras. I'm happy I didn't come this year, that was the day the building was leaking.

Was a sad quiet crowd last night for a team 11 games over .500. I've always thought the PR department isn't maximizing the potential.
