Hawkins defense really scares me. Feel like his defense wilk make him unplayable.

Lively sucks at free throws and is also foul prone. Had a rough start to year but good defebsive metrics. Personally I rather just sign a defensive big than take a gamble at 14 for one.

I like the guy but idk about all this. You can argue that they’re very similar in talent on their respective draft nights, but Trey has already outplayed his draft expectations.

There’s some reasoning out there to why Dick is slipping a little from top 10 to mid-late lottery in mocks

Ok to be fair hes not as athletic as Trey in regards to dunking and blocked shots. But I would argue hes fairly as good as him at everything else. I dont think hes necessary slipping but a lot of it are these guys with so called “high potential” that have great workouts rising quickly. Again its all a crapshoot and what player a team loves.

What defensive big is there willing to come to NO for MLE or less? If there is one, they likely cannot crack starting or closing lineup.

Thats the gamble with Lively. A defensive big with the talent to start/close.

lower ceiling. Teams like high upside in the late lottery range usually. This draft has a lot of that

You’re expecting a rookie big to do that at #14??? Good luck. FYI- Jaxson was selected I think at #10.

I am expecting Lively to do that on a rookie contract, not necessarily Year 1.

It is possible albeit unlikely.

Walter Kessler went at 22 to Utah and looks like a great replacement for Gobert to them.

Again good luck with that. His offense is basically abysmal. Jaxson shoots free throws better than him. Hes strictly a defensive big that is prone to fouling.

I agree. Kessler was great but no one saw that coming. I do think its pretty rare.

He went to Minnesota by the way. Since they traded him for Gobert- they didn’t see it coming lol

Dick is a special shooter
Lively... I like his upside and he fills a hole
Hawkins... great shooter... I wonder how his crazy off ball movement would work within our offense. I could see it going either way

Depending what goes on with Scoot, I could see them trading down too. What does the board think of #21 and #22 of nets for #14 if certain guys aren’t there? Its a pretty deep draft.

maybe but Walker was a higher usage guy at auburn while also being a better rim protector than lively. Walker averaged 2 more blocks more than lively with only 5 more minutes played per game. Also Walker averaged 3 more boards with those extra 5 minutes.

To me I just think there’s better talent at 14. with our desperate need for shooting and floor spacers, Feels like we should go that route.

You're comparing a freshman to a sophomore though.

Jax has no BBIQ, no instinct for shotblocking, and nowhere near the defensive impact of Lively.

We don't need our center to be an offensive engine and Lively took 35 FT's total (small sample size). We need defensive impact and that's what Lively provides while not having broken shooting mechanics.

Lively fouled less than JJJ in college and like JJJ he was 1st in DPM in the NCAA. JJJ was just named DPOY.
