Not worried about where mocks say players are going. If a player is projected in the approximately 7-17 range lets say, they would be in play for us.

I'm strictly talking Wings and Guards. You can interpret upside anyway you'd like. Highest ceiling, whatever. My own personal thought is regarding Offensive Upside but I'm down for whatever.

I'm bringing this up because if we are going to stay at 10...I think Griffin will shoot for highest upside and talent rather than the conventional wisdom that he will go for a high floor/low ceiling guy.

Wouldn't that be someone like Giddey out of Australia? Big, good passer, decent quickness and handle for his size, needs to improve shooting.

Giddey would be up there. NBL player of the year, only like 18 years old, just added a bunch of weight apparently, had elite passing and ball handling skills in the NBL, elite size for the position. Can't shoot for shite right now. He has a lot of Simmons in him but he does not lack confidence and does shoot the ball unlike Simmons.

I think you also have to throw Keon Johnson and Jalen Johnson in this category.

Both have huge huge upside...but much lower floors.

Giddey moves like he’s wearing cement shoes.

He’s so slow

People did say the same thing about Luka, to be fair.

Definitely not saying Giddy will be Luka.

I'll throw Barnes and Kuminga in there. Kuminga is likely a top 6 pick, but it wouldn't be a shocker to see him slide. I think Barnes goes before our pick too.

Pure upside, I would say Giddey, Kuminga, Keon, Barnes, and Ziaire Williams have star potential with Keon having the most work cut out for him to get there. I do like Moody's upside, but I don't think it's as high as those guys -- but I think Moody is the safest bet besides Barnes to be a long time starter/key rotational player.

I know a guy who watches a shite load of College ball is very into Springer, so imma say him

Also, Bouknight has elite shot creation abilities, although his three ball is subpar.

Shot creation in this league is king, so I would take him and hope Vinson can fix his shot, which is pretty mechanically sound

Don't really fit the criteria, both are highly likely to be gone long before pick 10

Jalen Johnson, Zaire Williams, Jaden Springer, James Bouknight, and Moses Moody.

I just watched some more Josh Giddey and I just don't see it at all.

He's a sloppy ball handler - kind of loose with it like ingram.

His release is sooo fricking slow and he's a total ball stopper.

I'm not impressed with him at all.

Half his highlights are him shooting wide open 3s. And he still shot only 29 percent.

Hard pass on this guy. He makes Adam Morrison look like Russell Westbrook athletically.

I don’t think Giddey is anything but a bigger Ricky Rubio right now, but you’re exaggerating his athletic ability a bit. I’d say he’s much more athletic than Luka looked in international highlights, and even has some vertical bounce. He probably will never be quick laterally, but he can probably guard people with size like Bogdanovic. Also his shot can get better in the nba, and if it does, then teams would be upset they passed on a big, high IQ, great passing guard

I'm not going to say Giddey doesn't have question marks because he's easily a top 5 pick if he didn't, but I do feel comfortable about him overcoming some of these. I watched an extensive interview of his where he was breaking down some of his own game film and I was pretty impressed with how he saw the floor and his awareness of his own weaknesses. He averaged 10/7/7 as an 18 year old in a competitive pro league. He did turn the ball over more than LaMelo there, but also had more assists. He was a ball stopper because he was the engine of their offense, but I'm sure with the way he reads the floor he will be a good "connector" off the ball making quick passing decisions. 3PT is definitely a big concern that probably locks him in as a top 5 pick if it was addressed with better numbers and form this season. Would give him more value when the ball is in Zion's hands, but would also keep defenses honest and passing lanes open when he has the ball. I think 3PT is the swing concern that propels him from the Kyle Anderson fringe starter type to a potential NBA All Star if he can shoot respectably from there. A positive: LaMelo shot 25% 3PT and 72% FT at NBL and made the jump to 35% 3 PT and 75% FT his rookie season. Giddey shot it 29% 3PT and 69% FT, so hopefully he can make a similar jump.

My gut tells me Giddey should be a top 5 pick. At the end of the day, that doesn't mean anything obviously. This is just my personal opinion with no access to extensive game tap, workouts, and interviews.

Tell me you don't want to draft Kispert without telling me you don't want to draft Kispert lol.

In all seriousness, Keon Johnson has crazy athleticism, he just broke the NBA combine record with a 48" vertical, which is just unreal.

If we were in a different situation, I’d be all for Giddey. With us drafting Kira as a pretty big project, I don’t think it makes sense to get Giddey and wait 3-4 years for him to figure it out. I’d much rather a guy like Kispert who will never be an all star, but will all most certainly play early and play a legit role for you.

You're right but NBL < Euroleague

NBA > Euroleague > Liga > Jeep Elite, Turkiye Basketbol etc > NBL > NCAA

However, i would take Moody or Giddey with pick 10 also

Giddy
Giddy
Giddy.

Love him. May not fit the win-now mentally, and for that reason it may not be practical.

But I think he could be a very good player for a long time.
