I'm not sure sitting a replacement level player is tanking. Theis is not helping the current team win games.

But I think some of you are missing the point. Yes Theis sucks but there are levels to this. Is Jemison really better than Theis? Is he some young guy that NEEDS development that you’ll use down the road in real games? Like do we really have vested interest in a 2 way like Jemison over getting Theis to play better?

Honestly, I think Jemison over Theis is dumb and likely just Willie doing Willie things. If Jemison is getting any minutes in January, the season is effectively over.

The center rotation needs to be Missi then Karlo, then Theis. We need to see what we have in Karlo and if he's worth developing.

No point in playing Jemison, there's no upside there

I probably buy this more than tanking or even actual youth development. This organization or coaches don’t have an actual plan for anything.

Yeah, that's the sad thing. I don't think they're trying to tank at all. Even though we should be actively tanking at this point

I think that it might be dependent on the matchup. Jemison is much bigger and stronger than Theis -- he's a much better rebounder. Jemison is also slower and less skilled.

Theis sucks but hes end of the bench NBA guy. Jemison honestly is not a NBA player. Willie might think otherwise but hes not.

Why is that? He is only soon to be 25. Can he not develop into a rotational player? He offers rebounding but not much offense. I would develop Karlo first, but certainly Jemison over Theis longterm.

Jemison is basically unswitchable on defense and he doesn’t provide enough offense to be that big of a liability defensively. He cant remotely shoot outside the paint either. He also is not shot blocker and has had several issues handling the ball and having turnovers. He rebounds decent but isnt a monster on the boards to have so many deficiencies elsewhere in his game.

Jemmison is a serviceable 3rd center, his size alone gives you 3 or 4 good hard fouls that this non physical team can use.

Personally I rather not have Theis or Jemison in the rotation at all. The ideal is to give most the minutes to Missi and the rest is small ball with Trey. Honestly the way JRE rebounds, shoots 3 and can switch lately rather he play the 5 than the other two.

But if im forced to choose between the two. I’ll take Theis- vet, can switch on defense, ability to shoot outside and can make the occasional smart play. But thats only if I HAVE to choose between the two.

Theis and Jemmison is a tossup but give the edge to Jemmison, due to his age. Not a big deal because your 3rd big is usually a reserve, not rotational. Jemmison is not athletic but built like an Ox, that's why I'd use him occasionally just to muck stuff up, even if he just gets in a couple of clean, hard fouls. The Pels have little physical presence outside of their rookie Missi.Pels should take the next week and evaluate Missi/Karlo as your two primary bigs. Missi has been one of the lone bright spots on the team, maybe Pels could strike lightning twice with Karlo.

Jemison just looks the part. He's huge and is a decent athlete. Plus he's still young. Every instinct says that he can be a future rotational player, if he can be developed. I'm not sure this is the best situation for him, but I didn't mind him getting minutes. I think it's fair to say that they have given up on Theis at this point..

I agree with this. Jemison can probably stick on the roster long term.

Yeah agree on Karlo. He has a roster spot and a guaranteed contract. We need to see if we have anything there and if not hes likely a candidate we trade to get under the tax. Probably another reason I would be playing Karlo more in these games- from an organization standpoint it just makes sense to see what you have in him.
