What could we realistically get for Zion?

Hypothetically speaking, if the team decided to move on from Z via a trade, what’s a realistic return? He can’t have much trade value at this point, and I know his contract was a bit weird with certain clauses so I’m not sure how the salary matching rules would come into play.

A Good young player and a couple of picks probably.
Few years ago we’d have taken a teams asset bank and best players… plural.
It’s a fricking sad, infuriating mess that seemingly could only happen to us… repeatedly.

If you don’t want Zion, why would anybody else?

Some GM or owner will think he can get through to him. Trade him for Josh Hart and filler and let NYC eat him alive.

New York like the vibes they have. I bet they say no which is crazy considering how bad they wanted him couple years ago.

Bingo. We’re not the only ones seeing these flabby Zion pics. Imagine selling your fanbase on him and knowing hes constantly hurt. We’re never getting what we want in value for him.

A GM might take a flyer on him for cheap. But I can’t imagine any GM trading away valuable picks and/or prospects for him. He’s too unreliable.

Very little. Like this board would send 100+ downvotes for ever it ended up being.

Because everyone thinks they can fix another teams problem

They do think that but only if they can get that problem(Zion) for cheap. No one is over paying to fix a problem. I remember Kyrie went for nothing to Dallas- granted he was an expiring and had some interesting issues- but that guy legit has won big time games. Dallas won on that trade but they weren’t giving young players and multiple high draft picks.

I dont think anyone is expecting a war chest. Think most of us just want to move on.
Saw Josh Hart mentioned. Thats probably about the tier we can expect.

Kyrie also had multiple instances of being a problem on a few different teams. I feel like, at least on your 2nd chance teams are more likely to buy in a bit more.
Quite frankly its easy for a GM to look and say NO has a strength and conditioning problem maybe WE can work through it

I mean thats the hope. A team with a strong culture like Miami or the Warriors might think that honestly.

I’m looking for at least salary relief, a promising young player, 2 good 1sts, and a swap.
Depending on the team and the young player, that could fluctuate. My first calls would be to the few franchises that are just as dysfunctional as us that maybe desperate for some buzz like Chicago, Detroit, or Charlotte

Bro you know Trajan ain’t getting Zion. He knows all too well the issues probably more than us fans know.

No serious franchise will want him
Would it be easier/better to cut him and move on?

Good point, you’re right I wasn’t thinking about Trajan. Mark at least one team off the list

When he got hurt in the fricking covid bubble in Orlando and flew home - I knew he was a bust. Maybe not a bust at some other team but a bust here. I said we should trade him them and you all dug your heels in on that fat frick.
You could tell on draft night that he was a headcase.
Now we'll be lucky to get shite for him if we don't end up cutting him first.

Y’all are delusional

This isn’t a prime AD or CP3 where they just want to play winning basketball. Zion straight up doesn’t want to play basketball at all. Charlotte, Detroit, Chicago, etc isn’t going to mortgage their future for a guy that won’t get on the court as is. Oh, and he’s making max money.

You have to get someone back with a much higher ceiling than Hart. Love him but no way. Their picks will also be bad.
