We need to lock Josh Hart up before he gets a big offer we can’t match.

He’s never going to lead the team in scoring but if you ask me he and Adams are irreplaceable for what they give the team in effort on defense and on the boards. Hart is scared of no one on the court and that kind of energy is infectious. Watching him battle it out last night against Giannis, while severely outsized, was fun to see. I hope management sees his value and rewards it. What do y’all see him getting on his next contract?

Hart will get 10-13.5 per on a 4 year deal, so 4 year 40-50 million

I think that’s more than fair for a 6th man type. I’ve never been a big Zo fan but I’ll admit I’m starting to think his new shooting stroke is for real and here to stay. If he can keep knocking down 3’s in the 36-40% range with his size, defense and passing ability I think he’s worth more with us than what we could get in trade.

Pretty sure we can't do that.

We can't offer him an extension during the season.

And the earliest we can is the same time other teams can put in their RFA offers as well.

I think you're right. The deadline for rookie extensions was a while ago. Dunno why tho

Does Hart want to be a back up? The next contract is going to secure his future. But I am sure he wants to play a bigger role. As much as I'd like him to play SG. He is more of a SF/PF. With the success of Dort and O'Neale, who are both undersized. He might get a better opportunity elsewhere. I don't think we can match..

People liked to hate on Zo early, but you absolutely keep him with the way he’s been playing.

You know, the term back up can get thrown around loosely

Will Hart start every game? Probably not.

Will Hart be on court in the last 5 minutes of a playoff game?

Abso-frickin-lutely

Which do you think he'd value more?

He plays a lot of minutes. But he has Ingram and Zion in front of him and we are at losing speed/athleticism when we play those 3 together. If he can't play with both, how many games is he going to finish?

This team has a financial crisis coming. Ball and Hart need new contracts. Adams pay goes down, but those other two are coming up. Zion is on a rookie, but it's not super cheap. We are already top 10 in payroll and really don't have the space to add anymore. Even with Redick gone next season, our payroll is going to climb. If Hart gets around 15M, I think they have to let him go (unless they let Ball go, it's one or the other)..

I would kind of like to clear Melli, JJ, Bledsoe, and Hayes. That is like $40 million right there. Maybe use the mid-level to improve at the 3/4. We haven’t really seen Gabriel at all. Is that lack of off-season or is he truly roster filler.

Well JJ and Meli are OOC, so you don't need to wish there

Adams isn't a lock.
Good pivot defenders aren't rare in nba.

The untradable guys seem to be Zion, BI and Hart.
Eventually Lonzo if his salary isn't too high.

He should've been in the game the other night over bledsoe.

I disagree about Adams. The game changes when he comes in and it’s very noticeable. He has a commanding presence in the paint and his ability to grab offensive rebounds and give extra possessions is just about unrivaled in the NBA. Plus he’s young enough and can actually run the court well enough that he’s not a liability when they want to push the ball. For a team that struggles so badly on D just think how bad it would be without him. Plus now he and Zion look to be learning how to play with each other. As far as Hart starting I really don’t know if he cares about that or not but he logs starter minutes and he’s always in the game when it matters. If it was that big of a deal I would be fine starting him in place of Bledsoe, what position really doesn’t matter because you know he’s going to defend the opponents best scorer 1-4 anyway with Adams on the C,

I may be remembering incorrectly, but at one point didn’t Hart basically release a public plea not to be traded from NO? Maybe he’ll reciprocate the loyalty.

I think Hart likes it in NO but it sure would help if we showed some promise the 2nd half to make him want to come back. I really think this team can make the 8th seed if they keep playing like they did against Boston and the Bucks. We are very hard to stop offensively.

I don't get the mentality that money doesn't matter or neither does starting. Adams is going to be making 17M+. Bledsoe 17M+. Zion 10M+. Ingram 30M+. We can't turn around and give both Ball and Hart 15M+ each. That would 6 guys making over 100M. That is a very shallow team. Everybody else has be be minimum players or on a rookie deal. It's the same thing we were doing before..

You’d have to rid yourself of Bledsoe and Reddick’s contracts if you wanted to sign Hart and Ball.

A lot of heavy contracts on a mediocre team. If we sign both Zo and Hart.. we’re in trouble
