It's not Connolly alone though, it's Connolly plus the others.
This is what I keep trying to say - Most fans only know the name of the GM so he gets all the praise and blame. But the reality is that More has 5x as many guys around him as Dell has had in his tenure. Same goes for Ainge.
The Pels never thought it was valuable to invest in scouting and analytic departments. It's not about finding the brilliant GM and hoping he can do it all. It's about building a fantastic team. Connolly,.Ainge, Morey - they all would have failed here to some extent if only given the resources provided to Dell

And that’s why Dell was a bad GM. If he didn’t have the resources to succeed, it’s part of the job to convince ownership of the worth of the investment.
They wouldn’t have failed here because they would have gotten the resources they needed or they would have resigned.

Haha - go into your bosses office Monday and tell him that you can't do your job as is and they need to spend a ton of money to hire people to help you.
I will be here, waiting to hear how that goes

Stop making excuses for Dell lol.
We’re sitting here at home without scouting and analytics knowing not to give Solo Asik and Ajinca the contracts they got

I'm not making excuses. I am just smart enough to know things aren't black and white. A guy isn't either the smartest or an idiot.
Dell likely still would have failed but isn't it interesting that he did better when he had Ferry to bounce things off of than when he had nobody when Connolly left?
Think of life as more gray, my friend

I have zero agendas. Some people just assume I do because... Gasp... I cam see multiple sides, which is rare in the sports take culture
Dell was very smart. And very flawed. And guess what - they all are. Morey was two months away from being fired before OKC inexplicably decided to trade Harden. Meyers in GS wanted Dwight. Ainge almost bet the farm on Winslow. They are all flawed and all smart. The gap isn't as big as results indicate

Does that come with a cash prize?

This is great news but would him coming over be a lateral move? If he's been there 19 years he's likely established some roots so what benefit would it be for him to accept the same position with a different organization
Have you watched the Suns organization the last 10 years? I'd take less to get Away from them

I have done that on multiple occasions. I have also left a job when an owner didn’t see eye to eye on resources. But I know I am valuable and I am not going to compromise my reputation just to keep a job that would be a dead end if I didn’t have the resources I needed to succeed.
People whose fear of losing their job exceeds their desire to be great at it are never going to be successful.

I am sure there are more than 30 of whatever your job is in the whole country.
Look, you can blame Dell for not demanding more. He asked for more,.but you're right, he didn't demand it or else.
It is what it is. It took national bashing to wake management up. And they woke now

One thing we have Davis to thank for.

Even if we had some way to quantify that Demps >= Griffin as a GM, Demps lacked the leverage to push back. It's why he should have been fired when Monty got fired. Not because he was inherently bad, but because if things went even a little sideways he was going to be operating on a hot seat that would back him into hard to get out of corners.
Dell: We need more scouting resources please.
Loomis: For the players you don't draft?
Dell: We need more medical resources please.
Loomis: We just bought you the same cryogenic chamber that Sean got for the Saints and we gave you Saints Assistant trainer. Are you telling me that the Pelicans and their 15 players playing a non contact sport need more medical resources than an NFL team?

Would be funny if that was his legacy here: His trade demand woke up ownership and this franchise became elite as a result
Posted on 4/27/19 at 6:24 pm to Crewz
I honestly think if Davis does sign the supermax then I wouldn't be shocked to learn this in a round about way was his/families/agents way of giving the owners/franchise an ultimatum.

Nah. There is someone else that was the cause of all this mess and it wasn't AD. And it wasn't LBJ or Rich Paul....

His daddy has some Lavar in him. I see that at the games.
