Other teams would kill for New Orleans' depth in the absence of its best player. A core of Ingram, CJ McCollum, Jonas Valanciunas, Herbert Jones, Trey Murphy III and Larry Nance Jr. should be doing more than retreating further into the play-in ranks.

Something looks and feels fundamentally broken about the Pelicans' process and approach. The offense, above all, should not be struggling this much to prop up satisfactory three-point volume and overall efficiency. Zion's return is the ultimate swing development, but it's rapidly becoming less than a given—much like New Orleans' ability to pull itself out of this downward spiral.

Willie is not a good xs and os coach. He is a rah rah guy. He needs an offensive tactician assistant coach that can get our star players easy shots. All of our dogs have to beat double and triple teams to get a shot off.

It's become apparent, after a taste of being the leaders the Western Conference, Zion is what makes this team title contenders.

Starters play better. Bench plays better. Offense plays better. Defense plays better. Willie coaches better.

Have you seen the effort or lack there of that these guys give on a nightly basis? He ain’t a rah rah guy either or they just don’t respond to his rah rah.

is he even that? We’ve looked completely disinterested in playing basketball the last few games.

Our "depth" is so overrated it's really just averaged roster. We have some nice top end talent with Zion,BI, and CJ but our role players are so limited. Trey is inconsistent and Willie doesn't trust him on D. Herb can't shoot which kills us. Larry is undersized but Willie decided all his minutes will be at the 5. And Naji and Jose have not played as well as they did in the beginning of the year.

I'm beginning to think that the whole team has fallen into a defeatist mental attitude due to the huge numbers of games without BI and Zion.

The players may also be thinking that even if they get to the playoffs, that there's a good chance BI and/or Zion may get injured again, leading to an early exit. So why bother giving 110% effort, when this whole season could be a write off.

Of course, as pros, they should not have this kind of attitude. But how else do you explain their lack of effort?

Can you blame them? Year after year they are let down by the “stars” of this team. That’s gotta take a toll after finally looking like we were turning a corner and then they get hurt yet again
