It was a good deal for the Lakers, but not a needle mover. They got better, incrementally better. They did not go from a non play in team to a contender by making this move. People are acting they traded Juan Toscano Anderson for Giannis. They MAY be a 10 seed ,9 at best, nothing better IMO.

We’re about to trade for John Collins and pay him 25m/yr when we could’ve traded a 1st and gotten Beasley and vando who gives you 80% of Collins at 4m/yr

Jazz drop out of the play-in by dumping Conley, Vanderbilt, etc, for Westbrick to get bought out.
Question is whether this team makes up any ground on the likes of Portland and OKC.

Zach Lowe just said if that pick doesn’t convey Utah gets Lakers 27 2nd. They got absolutely fleeced

This love affair with Beasley and Vanderbilt has gone too far .
They are both okay players . Sure they are better than what the lakers had as far as depth in concerned . However acting like the Pels got worse bc we didn’t get them or panicking over a potential trade because “we could have had them instead” is strange.

I’d bet the lakers land Bojan tomorrow

This was the goal for Utah . They are tanking. Clearly there was not much of a market for Beasley and Vanderbilt .

Oh I know this was their goal.
What shocks me is that they couldn’t get more for Vanderbilt or Beasley. I guess no one else had a shite contract they could buy out to ensure disaster.

and to think... we got swept by a team that was gassing up the tank

I’m surprised they didn’t get a little bit more just for the Westbrook buyout . Our favorite player Cash Considerations could certainly be involved and we just don’t know it yet .
But to get a 1st rounder and a for 2 okay players that are not in your future plans at all and make your pick this year better Is not as bad as it is being portrayed .

Dump is the right word. Those players were not helping their bottom line with wins. Will Beasley and Vanderbilt help the Lakers, maybe. I don’t know. Westbrook was absolutely helping their bench. I don’t know if Beasley/Vanderbilt will make the Lakers bench better. If those 2 players have to start, that’s not good either as they are not starting caliber players IMO. Good bench players for sure, but so was Russell. Like I said earlier, I think this helps the Lakers. But not enough to really effect the seeding, unless(and it’s entirely possible) that 2 games make a huge difference .

Too bad we got worked by Utah early when they were playing well and won't get them in full tank mode

Beverly and Walker + 29 1st for Bojan works perfectly money wise.

It’s more about increasing the Lakers chance of getting in the playoffs, eliminating our chance (assuming we are in the playoffs) at Wembanyama

I guess a positive is they would get less athletic and worse defensively and have nothing left to trade. If they made that trade the only good defenders on that team would be AD, Vando, Schroder, and lebron every once in a blue moon

Maybe They do maybe they don’t . The lakers have no wiggle room . If Lebron misses time with a groin or ankle or knee they are in trouble .
I’m not convinced he puts it all on the line knowing he’s got the scoring record and they are not a real contender .

I disagree i think this gives them the depth to survive an injury. They legit had the worst 3-15 in the league. This helps that a lot. now if they get bojan that would be a really good move
