Won’t be popular but he’s not what we need at center. Well
you need Zion back first but you need a 7ft rim protecting defensive big that can run. You don’t need a scorer at center. We have enough scoring.

Jv can’t switch on anyone and he rarely blocks shots. Every team will just continue to put him in the pick and roll and kill us. Then everyone has to help and sag. Wide open 3s

It’s why the 2nd team always plays better because Nance is in the game.

Zion is supposed to be the ultimate weapon.(when he plays). An athletic PF that can kill a small ball team. JV is a great player but he doesn’t fit this team.

I was just about to post that he is a major problem that is actually worse when Zion is out there.

The Pels need a defensive big that can switch and guard wings.

Hard pass

We have a great combo a4 center with Jval and Nance to play to what is needed each game.

That big would command near max money if they had a shred of an outside game

Well we have the cap space and any trade capital that’s possible to get almost anyone that would be available.

JV should have really good value right now as well

We already went over this. Val is important in some matchups. This one was not one of those

If he has good value, then he's a good player.

The Elephant in the room is that THESE matchups are the ones you see in the playoffs...

Then Nance can get the bulk of the minutes.

He's averaging as many minutes as Jval already.

Not really. Not every team in the world playoffs is a pace team

Not really an elephant since we’re BUILT to face any team in the league in a 7 game series.

I get that shel but you need 2 if you want the LarryO.

Otherwise you are sending a signal that you are okay with gambling on net negative possessions with a center that's extremely stiff.

I want to make it very clear that I think JV is a great bball player. I just think for where we want to go if an upgrade did show up out of thin air. We need to attempt *something*.

I mean we had this thread earlier this week

I’ll point out what I did then

The starting unit with Jval is a whopping +.4

The starting unit with Nance is +39

Zion + traditional drop bigs that occupy the low post don’t work well with Zion

Maybe it’s Turner, maybe it’s lucking into Wemby, but I suspect if this team has actual championship aspirations Jval will not be seeing much burn come those critical series.

If he’s ok with that, and will accept a salary reflecting that after this one, by all means I’d love to have him stay, but I suspect it won’t work out that way

Nobody really disagrees, in theory. These guys are (1) extremely rare and (2) very expensive

The big we need is Nerlins Noel but I don’t know what I’m willing to trade to acquire him and it ain’t JV. If we could move Jax and something else, maybe devonte and (this hurts) billy, yeah. Thing is, would the pistons go for it?

You guys keep asking the wrong question - "How do we upgrade JV?"

You don't upgrade JV, because for $15 million a year you'd only get a different flavor of center from the same tier.

The question to ask is how do we upgrade Jaxson. I think in the short term trading for someone like Noel or Olynyk would be the options you're looking at. Long term we have the Lakers pick and our Eurostash in Matkovic.
