MEM turned 17MM in cap space into justise Winslow and a GSW 2024 1st round pick. Unbelievable
That is a solid front office. That team is going to be good in a few years.

Miami, Memphis and Oklahoma City are working on an elaborate three-team deal that would land the Heat both Andre Iguodala and Danilo Gallinari, league sources tell ESPN. Talks are ongoing and could extend into Thursday, sources said.

Grizzlies may be taking on Johnson and/or Olynyk and sending out Solo to OKC. Not sure what draft picks could be changing hands but OKC will need something for their troubles (maybe Nunn or Robinson?).

olynyk makes sense.

Solo played well this year.
I find it bizarre.
Solo made me despise him on pels. Am i the only one who thought his play with pels was awful for the money.

Warriors are trading Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III to Philadelphia

Three second-rounders (Dallas 2020, Denver 2021, Toronto 2022) sent to Warriors.

It’s late so I might just be tired but I find myself wondering if Pels are missing the boat at the trade deadline. Our chances of leap frogging everyone in front of us to make the postseason are slim and we’ve got three vets on our squad that any contender would love. Are we sure their value is going to be higher in the summer? Griff talks so much about culture and family that I sometimes worry he forgets he’s running a ball club not an encounter group. I haven’t noticed a lack of high priced vets holding back the development of the Grizzlies young core and they just swapped out another old vet for a good young wing I’d love the Pels to have. I may just have old scars from when Dell would hold on to players too long in a vain attempt to make the playoffs then get nothing back for departing talent after failing to make it anyway. I trust Griff and Trajan much more than I ever trusted Demps, but continuity isn’t always the right play, stability can stagnate into timidity and you can’t value your relationship with the players over the needs of your ball club. I trust they have a vision for this team, but executing a vision can require a certain level of ruthlessness and clarity of thought. In short I hope our GM understands in private at least that Jrue Holiday is never going to be Steve Nash.

One thing that we are seeing is cap space diminishing in the summer of 2020. Atlanta lost $20M+ in the two trades and Memphis certainly will lose room as part of the Iguodala trade. Could be the summer of the midlevel exception.

This just reiterates what someone was pointing out before regarding the likely minimal market for Favors.

Also, I believe it was Woj that mentioned it last week or so that we could see many more sign and trades this off season in comparison to years past.

Yeah but S&Ts cost assets to execute. When the Clippers signed Gallinari they had to send a 1st to Atlanta for the use of their cap space. Who is going to like Favors enough to outbid the Pels for him and give up assets to make that happen?

On the plus side if it did happen the Pels would probably get an asset, Atlanta sent a 2nd to Denver in the Gallinari S&T, and a nice trade exception.

Oh, I wasn't referring to sign and trades in context of the Pels, just that it's going to be a weird off season in general.

favors is in a weird place, but that’s good for the pels.
17MM is too much for him unless it’s a short deal (like now). I think he will wind up here or elsewhere on a 2 year contract

I don’t think you want him on a long deal anyway at any price with the way the game is evolving. We will see but I think the offer he gets here will be his best option

all the cap guys last year said the S/T was dead, and look what happened. And that was with widespread cap space

Miami and reps for OKC’s Danilo Gallinari were working on a contract extension overnight to help finalize three-team trade, league sources tell ESPN. The challenge: Miami’s desire to preserve cap space for 2021. He can become a free agent this summer.

bold prediction:

miami will regret sacrificing winslow and their tradeable contracts/picks for iguodala and gallinari. were it not for extremely smart drafting (robinson/nunn/herro) they wouldnt even be in an aggressive mood at the moment...why not scale back and let the team marinate?

I'm confused over how reps for a player can negotiate a contract with a team that the player doesn't currently play for. Is OKC essentially given Miami permission to do so which doesn't make it tampering?

Could’ve said that about Toronto and GS last year.

All it takes is a Giannis, or maybe even a Khris Middleton, MCL sprain in the month of May and all of the sudden Miami might be the favorite to come out of the east
