Deion, do you know who initiated? I'd imagine us since we were talking to Horford in the offseason

Philly would need to include picks for me to consider it, not the other way around.

That contract is PUTRID.

I talked about it in the offseason, signing Horford and having him be our starter for at least 2 years while jaxson develops. I would hope by year 3 and 4 Jaxson is ready to take over and is playing like a $25M center, while Horford may be on the decline. You look at it as you're paying two centers about $30M/yr. You'll get great production from Horford in years 1 and 2, and then great production from Hayes in years 3 and 4. So sure you're overpaying Horford later in his contract, but your underpaying Hayes later in his rookie contract.

Also, Horford's 4th year is only guaranteed at $14.5M, not the full $26.5M

It's also declining per year...I still don't want the contract but he may be a good fit. He can also stretch the floor offensively...he's more of a 5 these days than a 4 though

I'm sorry, I just don't see it this way at all. you're paying a 35 year old player who, to me, is already not a player worth 29 million, a shitload of money.

I just would avoid ever paying a Center big money in this era. Doesn't make sense for cap allocation in the Zion era.

His deal also causes us to lose all financial flexibility while still in Zion's rookie contract window

I think you get a lot of the same production out of Favors for a fraction of the cost and 5 years younger. I'd prefer to go get a stretch 4/5 that can pair well with Zion, Jaxson, and Favors.

Yup. Its a big time no for me. Philly would have to sweeten the pot substantially.

Going forward,we may only have 20 minutes a game, at most, for a Center.

I want another big but not a 34 year old one making 27 million a year.

Can also confirm ace reporter @realtuffjuice scoop that Wizards are working to get Jerome Robinson from Clippers before deadline. They liked him immensely before L.A. took him in first round of the 2018 draft.

Knight and Henson to the Pistons for Drummond...wow. Thompson has to be dealt elsewhere, yes?

Don't understand that deal. That's all the Pistons could get for Drummond?
