Yeah, all that matters is how many tickets are sold. Go to the Hornets' main website and buy them there!
Actually . . . it's attendance that matters more in terms of revenue. Concessions, parking, merchandise.
Tickets sold count for the "benchmark", but the "benchmark" is a little over emphasized, imo.

Spurs game next weekend should be a sellout

Hopefully. Saturday game should help a ton.
Also one of the games is OKC so that should draw a decent crowd for Durantual

I say good riddance, if they dont wanna stay then let them go, I would rather see someone try and get a Major League Baseball team here, Bottom line is if they wanna go wave as they leave..

Just being real, You wanna be like a 5 year old and say if you dont buy enough tickets then we will take our ball and go home, then do it, i could really care less. I still have the Saints, Tigers & Zephyrs.

You're nuts if you think we could support a mlb team for 81 games
Posted on 1/15/11 at 10:17 pm to TJG210
Then we cant support an NBA team that has 43 home games
Posted on 1/15/11 at 11:17 pm to DollaChoppa
oops my bad, 41, still if we cant support 80 games then we cant support 41, i know alot more people who would rather go see a baseball game than go watch basketball, we have done pretty good with the zephyrs, just sayin...If the hornets wanna hold the city hostage let them gooooooooo

yea, YOU do. because that is where your interests lie. so naturally you are surrounded by the same people.
flawed logic.

And what does a premium ticket at a Zephyrs game cost? Probably about $15.......
MLB and Minor League Baseball are apples and oranges my friend.......if you need further proof check the actual attendance numbers of Zephyr games, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts LSU has better.

i'm gonna tell you right now those two teams don't move the needle... only three teams do and that's the NBA's problem...

And that's one reason why I feel optimistic about N.O. retaining the team long term. With the upcoming CBA, the current fricked up business model, etc., the league really wants to change the nature of the beast, imo. Based upon what I've read and heard, they want to make a market like N.O. work because they think it will be healthier for the league in the end.

go frick yourself. i would rather watch nascar then go to a zephrys game. I like baseball but it's so boring and long and no one pays attention till the playoffs

is it attendance or ticket sales?
i want to go to the game either wednesday or monday... but i can get better tickets for way cheaper on stubhub than on the hornets website... if i buy two crappy tickets for like $12 on the hornets website and just use the better ones, will they count towards the total we need?

Both for different reasons.

Yes. Good idea.

I'm a die hard baseball fan, been playing and watching baseball for my entire life. That being said, I still find basketball games more exciting and entertaining in person than baseball games (and they're at LEAST a half hour shorter which is nice). I don't see how this city could better support an MLB team for 81 games than an NBA team for 41. Furtheremore, while 17,500ish is a sellout for the Hornets, that total wouldn't be close to capacity in whatever stadium would have to be built for an MLB team. It's just not realistic.

Today's Attendance: 15,155
Basically exactly what the Hornets need to average over the final 3 games to meet the benchmark, and with two of those three being San Antonio and OKC, I think we can do it!
