Thoughts on Reed Sheppard as a buy low guy?

Tbh I think the most realistic goal this off season is aquiring a young prospect and competing now. I'll be trying to do the three teamer with Houston and Mil and grabbing Reed Sheppard to make him my future starter I'm still high on him.

I don't think he's available. VanVleet is coming up on the final year of his contract and Houston actually has a team option on him this summer if they want to go in a different direction now.
Either way, I think Jalen Green will be on the market before Sheppard if he's ever.

The only way the Pels are getting someone of that caliber in a trade is as part of a Giannis trade AND other better players go to Milwaukee. The Pels are not getting the 2nd best asset in a 3 way trade for Giannis. They may not even get the 3rd best asset unless they put something else in the trade, at least CJ but probably Herb or both CJ and Herb.

Example trade, and here the money works, not sure about the assets for everyone to say yes.
Bucks: Sengun, Jalen Green, picks from Pels
Pels: Shepherd, Dillon Brooks, Tari Eason
Rockets: Giannis, CJ, Herb
This actually seems like a pretty good trade. I think the Pels might be the most reluctant in this situation. The Rockets give up a lot, but they are getting an MVP and I bet Giannis would much rather play with CJ and Herb than any of the talented but young Rockets going out in this trade.

Dogshit trade for MIL swaps that are almost for sure Top 7 Lottery picks

We're the biggest loser in that trade. I don't see the rationale behind this trade, from our perspective. We get worse, while giving up value (draft picks/swaps), so if we're trying to compete it doesn't make sense and if we're trying to tank, it still doesn't make sense.

A good trade for who? Definitely not the Pels.
You’re giving up the equivalent of 4-5 1st rounders and the best you get back is Reed? Come on man. More realistic:
Houston: Giannis
Bucks: Sengun, Green, their 2 1sts from Pels
Pels: JSJ, 2 Phoenix 1sts
It’ll take more than 2 1sts for Milwaukee to get their picks back, Brooklyn had to give up everything they got from the Suns and didn’t get all their picks back.

1. I don’t think he’s a buy low guy . I think the Rockets Value him.
2 . I’m on record dating back to last season that I think he’s going to be a terrific player for a very long time
3. I think it would take a Zion deal to pry him away or major assets going out .

Good for the Rockets as they get an instant contender.
Good for the Bucks getting 2 young high caliber talents and their picks back.
I said the Pels probably wouldn’t like it, but the OP asked about Sheppard and I was trying to point out to do that requires a bigger trade where Sheppard practically becomes a throw in.

Houston reportedly loves Sheppard internally
I doubt he’s untouchable, but he wouldn’t be a buy low candidate
Buy low candidates on Houston would be Cam Whitmore and to lesser extents Jabari Smith Jr and Jalen Green (they still really value those 2, but would be willing to move from them in a clear upgrade situation).

We all try to lump us into the Bucks/Giannis trade, since we know that the Bucks need their picks/swaps back. But the more I think about it, they can just wait and send us compensation directly. They will probably have to slightly overpay, but there is no need to complicate it.

The Pels aren’t about to voluntarily give the Bucks back their picks.

The Bucks have zero of their players or prospects (besides Giannis obvs) that are worth us trading their picks back. That’s why it has to be a 3 team deal.

I enjoy all the trades here that have the Rockets trading away all of their young talent and picks for Giannis

This fanbase has no idea how to value players in trades.
They think that Houston would give up a perfect outside shooting match (that they just used pick 3 on) w Amen and Sengun as a buy low candidate lol
Griff and Z have destroyed their minds

Their picks/swaps are a year from now (or more). They don't have to do it right now. They can do the Giannis trade, then use some of those assets to get back those picks from us.
I don't think Giannis goes to Houston anyway. Supposedly he wants to stay in the East. If they talk him to go West, it's going to be the Spurs.

Bucks: Sengun, Jalen Green, Dejounte Murray, 26&27 swaps/pick, Houston 28 1st
Rockets: Giannis, Kuzma, Hawkins, Antonio Reeves
Pels: Cam Whitmore, Reed Sheppard, Pat Connaughton, Bobby Portis
_edit_ - i forgot to add 27 brooklyn swap rights to pels from rockets

In the deal posted above Rockets trade Green, Sengun, JSJ and 2 1sts.
They are still left with Thompson, Sheppard, Eason, Whitmore and 5 1sts (not quite all their young talent and picks huh?)
Remember, this is Giannis you’re trading for, not some bum
